A New Before & After: Armoire Makeover

Happy hump day!  I’m in the midst of the painting of my guest room today (woo hoo!) but I have a fun makeover to share with you.

I scored this armoire from a friend and though I loved the lines and details, the finish was in seriously sad shape.

I used wood putty to fill out some deep gauges and then tackled her with some Annie Sloan Versailles.  Two coats later, with a little wet rag distressing and a coat of clear wax… here she is!

There’s a lot that I love about this piece…

She’s a little chippy, a little sassy with some swanky new knobs.

And on the inside of her doors, a fun surprise or two…

A chalkboard surface…

and a corkboard surface.

These aren’t the best photos, but the chalkboard is on the inside of the left door, the corkboard is inside the right door.

This would be an awesome piece for a child’s room or playroom!  Great storage and now some fun display space…  She’ll be making her debut in the booth later this week.

I’ll share of photo of her all styled and in her space soon!

Now, back to the guest room … don’t forget to follow me on Instagram if you want to follow along.

What are you working on this week?

Put her in the new guest room! 😀 Very nice!

  8. Beautiful piece. I bet it finds a permanent home real soon. I love the color and the new knobs. Visiting from Savvy South. Style. Have a lovely week!

  9. GORGEOUS makeover!!

  10. You said the finish was in bad shape. Doesn’t look that bad. As an antique buff, I certainly would have tried to restore it. Now any antique value is gone.

  11. Love that creamy color, and it’s such a pretty piece!

  12. I love this piece and it came out beautiful. All the detail on that piece really come to life with paint. Versailles was the first quart of Annie Sloan paint I bought because I thought it would go with everything and it still does.
