Before and After: End Table Makeover

Greetings, friends!  It’s been a busy several days with work and our Legacy Benefit Dinner and some fun time with friends, so I am dragging this week!  It’s been a while since I shared a furniture project, so I thought today was a good day to show you this end table makeover.

A friend of mine {practically} gifted this pine end table to me several months ago.  It took me a while to decide how I wanted to refresh it so it sat in my garage until I pulled it out to sand it one day.

It had great bones, so I decided to go with a two-tone treatment, just for fun.

I used my Farmhouse Paint in White Ash (have you tried Farmhouse Paint yet??) for the body.  I was amazed because this can of paint had been sitting for over a year, but after adding some water and vigorous stirring, it regained its buttery consistency and went on like a dream.  I used the Antiquing Glaze in Tea Stain to show off her pretty curves and detail.

For the top, I decided to try out a new product I received in a swag bag at some point:  Minwax Wood Finishing Cloths.

So I have mixed feelings about how the top came out… I really like the color of the stain (Dark Mahogany) and it was absolutely easy to use.  I like how you can see the knot holes and character of the wood grain.  But I do wish I had sanded the top down more thoroughly… a few places still had a bit of the old finish so the new treatment didn’t take evenly.   THAT being said, it still has a nice look!  So I think I would use these wipes again, with better preparation.  Noted, for the matching coffee table. 🙂

I reused the original hardware, just gave it two coats of my hammered bronze spray paint.  And I priced her reasonably, so hopefully she’ll head to a good home soon!

As I mentioned above, I have a matching coffee table waiting in the wings.  Plus a couple of other pieces that need to vacate my garage!

Felt good to flex my furniture painting muscles again after an extended break!  Back later this week with another look at decor trends for 2017.  Have a great day!
