Home Goals 2013 {Finally!}

Ok, I know January is almost over, but it took me several weeks to really refine my home goals.  And they're not really refined.  I'm afraid I've set some lofty goals for the home, but maybe this will be my year to get a lot accomplished. :-)   Knowing me, there will be a fair amount of DIY and other decor distractions along the way, so we'll see! And here they are, in no particular order... Add drapes to the family room … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist…An Occasional Chair

There's just something about a simple chair.  An "occasional" chair that by design and definition is a versatile furnishing in your home. I was looking through some vignettes I've pinned over the last several months and a common theme emerged...   Source: allumerdecor.blogspot.com via Heidi on Pinterest Source: ramblingrenovators.blogspot.com via Heidi on Pinterest Source: forevercottage.blogspot.com via Heidi on … [Read more...]

My Thursday Gig and a Peek at the Mom Cave

Did you know I have a regular Thursday gig?  You can find me at FancyLittleThings.com every Thursday where I blog about home and garden with snippets of faith thrown in. I love my space over there, because my talented editors Aimee and Danielle come up with theme for each month.  My challenge is to blog within my niche (for the most part) while addressing the theme of the month.  July was "Beside Restful Waters" and I had fun with that, … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist… this East Hampton Cottage

You all know I'm a shelter mag junkie and I'm sure many of you are as well.  One of my favorite inspirations for sophisticated design inspiration is Traditional Home and the July/August issue did not disappoint.  While I was trying not to throw up laid up with that stomach bug last week, I had a chance to dig into my copy and immediately fell in love with the East Hampton cottage of Patricia and Jeffrey Fisher. Does this speak to … [Read more...]

Ugly Duckling Dining Room {Bloggers Without Borders}

Ahhhh.  Amazing what a fresh paint color will do! As promised, here's my progress on my Bloggers Without Borders project, my Ugly Duckling Dining room... This was in the midst of the chaos-- forgive the blur, I was a little weak from that dad gum stomach bug. :-) The paint color is Behr's Silver Sateen, the same color I used in my Mom Cave (which is adjacent).  And because just painting isn't enough, I decided to reconfigure the … [Read more...]

Nothing like a deadline and out-of-town company coming to get your rear in gear on a big project, right? Yep, I'm in the midst of painting my dining room.  Because y'all get an update on my Blogging Without Borders project on Monday, so I had to have SOME progress to show you. :)  And my parents, niece, and nephews are arriving Saturday, so it was time to get it rocking so I could have things reasonably put back before they arrive (and … [Read more...]

My Summer Mantle {mantel}

It's about time, right?  I actually finished this up a couple of weeks ago, but am just now getting around to sharing my summer mantle.  I wanted to keep this mantel simple but layered, and in keeping with a summertime and travel theme.  Did I hit the mark? The painting of the little girl running in the waves is something I purchased a few years ago at a Special Olympics art auction.  It reminds me of my daughter.   Of course, my map … [Read more...]
