What I’m Reading, Working on, and Loving…

We had a soggy weekend here... Not a total washout, but my hopes of getting poolside were dashed by the to do list and off and on storms and showers. The upside? I got my DIY back on and finished a book. Among other productive things like back to school stuff and getting the college kids somewhat situated. So today's a great day to share some snippets of what's going on... I just finished Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews. She's become one … [Read more...]

NYC {I Did It My Way}

Whew -- made it to Friday!  Re-entry was a beast this week after my awesome weekend in NYC and today I'm prepping for a quick trip to the Gulf Coast for the first part of our spring break.  AND celebrating this guy's 19th birthday! How did that happen?  Time flies, y'all!  Happy Birthday, Alec!  You made me a Boy Mommy for the first time and it's been an adventure ever since! So today will be busy as I try to get out of town, work on a … [Read more...]

My Latest Thrifty Finds

Well, it would seem the Atlanta Metro area has learned a lesson.  Schools were closed yesterday and today in anticipation of wintry weather yet again.  And while yesterday wasn't such a big deal with just rain and snow mixed mess, at least the roads were kept clear to prepare them for last night's blast of snow and ice.  We're hunkered down with an extra teenager or two (you knew that would happen), a full refrigerator, and wine.  Unlike last … [Read more...]

Sponsor Spot Light: Shop Small Saturday!

It's no secret I'm a fan of small businesses... after all, I AM one!  And I'm so pleased that all of my sponsors here on Decor & More are small businesses, too. Did you know small businesses provide 55% of all jobs and 66% of NEW jobs since 1970 (sba.gov)??   They have a direct impact on the economic health of our communities and I feel we all have a responsibility to support them. Now, don't get me wrong... I love a good sale, and it's … [Read more...]

Spring Mantel Tweaks… I Couldn’t Resist

Howdy hoo, y'all -- another busy week rocking and rolling around here!  So far this week we've celebrated two birthdays in my preschool class, Earth Day plus caterpillars (!), and then yesterday a puppet show.  I'm whipped by 2pm every day! I'm still working away on the guest room, but I took a few minutes to freshen up my spring mantel since Easter is now behind us... It all started with a quick trip to "Junk Day" at the Woodstock … [Read more...]

Shoppin’ on Saturday: HomeGoods Party!

Woo hoo -- I had such a nice treat on Saturday when I joined Rhoda from Southern Hospitality and about 50 other gals and guy (yes, one) at a local HomeGoods store for a before-hours party!! What a fun event... there was a lovely light breakfast spread (yay for coffee at 8am on a Saturday!) and our hostess with the mostess... Shop Small!! Let the Games Begin…

Happy Black Friday, friends!! I will NOT be braving the malls today... in fact, I rarely brave the malls anymore.  We're traveling and enjoying family and some football -- my favorite way to spend a fall holiday! Tomorrow is Shop Small Saturday, a day when we can all support our small businesses.  As a small business owner, I am thrilled to see American Express and our communities once again recognizing the importance of small business in … [Read more...]

More Thrifty Finds {Can’t Stop Myself}

Oh, well.  My back-to-school schedule will soon severely curtail my thrifting, so I was guilt -free when I hit an outdoor flea market with my friend and booth partner Michelle on Friday.  The onslaught of check-writing has already begun (those of you with school age children know of what I speak!), so funds were limited, but I scored some super fun deals anyway. :) Paint projects galore!!  And check out those wooden mill bobbins.  I have … [Read more...]
