I am SO honored and thrilled to be here sharing a little bit about my blogging journey with Heidi and her blogging friends. To have someone like Heidi call me an inspiring blogger, well that is about the greatest compliment I could ever get, because I think Heidi is one of the greatest gals and bloggers out there!
1. How did I get started blogging:
I started blogging when I was in my 4th year of dental school. My sister always had a family/personal blog that I kept up with–she pushed me to start mine. It wasn’t until I realized I could do crafts and share them months later, that I really became interested in blogging.
2. Tell us a little bit about your home:
My husband and I JUST bought our first house this past May. We just finished years of schooling and we are just starting our careers, and so, this is our first house and it is a fixer-upper. BUT it is on a lake, which makes it all worth it.
3. How would you describe your home decor style:
My style is hard to classify because it is always changing. As of this moment, I would say shabby chic with a touch of modern. {does that even exist??} Although I do have a huge place in my heart for rustic beach decor as well.
4. What inspires your style and projects around the home:
I always try to do things:
a.) On a budget, so that inspires me to be creative with materials I already have.
b.) With meaning, I like when a project isn’t just a project but has hints of personal touch in them.
{we added meaningful numbers to the back of our dining room chairs for an extra touch of interest}
5. Do you have a favorite DIY project?
Hummm, that is hard. I would say my house projects have been my favorite lately. My husband and I have done some serious DIY renovating!
6. What is your secret DIY weapon?
I do like staple guns for some reason. Pretty much if I can use a staple gun I will!
7. Any DIY fails?
Ohhhh YES. TONS. Let me think on that one…. yep, wayyyy to many to even mention!!!!
8. What is your favorite shopping source for home decor?
TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshalls–you just NEVER know what you are going to find there! And I am ALWAYS up for a good garage sale or thrift store to find treasures!
9. What is your favorite space in your home.
My living room, it has really become the hub of my house right now. And it has such a great view of the lake, I tend to want to spend a lot of time in there!
10. What is one piece of advice you would share for those on the journey of making a house into a home:
Surround yourself with things you love. Let your style be decided by a collection of things that you love. Don’t decorate a specific way because it is popular, decorate in a way that you love, that makes your style timeless and something you will want to be around and that is all that matters.
