Happy long weekend, friends... happy to say we're hunkered down at home just catching up on life (and sleep) a bit. We both had super busy weeks last week so we're thankful for an extra day "off". :) I've been thinking about my reading goals for this year and how my reading in 2019 was somewhat disappointing. I didn't read nearly as many books as I'd hoped and planned on and actually abandoned more books than ever. I spent more time … [Read more...]

Summer Read: The Thirteenth Tale

Hi there, friends! Legacy summer camp is in full swing this week and we are all having SO much fun! I sure do love these kiddos and it's a treat to spend a little time with them this summer. Today I wanted to share a few thoughts about The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. It's been around for a while (published in 2007) but this was my book club's May pick, so it made the cut for summer reading! I began this in early May, and was … [Read more...]

This Summer’s Book Stack

Happy Thursday, friends! Since I'm already a third of the way through my summer "break", I thought I'd share my book stack for the season. I always look forward to stretches of time to immerse myself in a good book and summer is the best candidate for such. A few weeks ago I had the grandiose notion that I would read a book a week, and while I may still get there, it's not looking too good at this point! A few longer road trips in the … [Read more...]

Currently…

Hi friends, I'm having a hard time believing Easter is upon us! I don't know where the time goes, but I take comfort in knowing I'm not the only one. :) I had a nice productive/super busy Spring Break last week and then traveled to Texas for a memorial service. The bonus, of course, was spending some unexpected time with my parents, siblings, and niece/nephews. But I have to confess I am DRAGGING this week. I happen to have a weekend at … [Read more...]

Tuesday Thoughts: Church of the Small Things

Hello, friends, from a soggy Atlanta. I have to begin by extending my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by Irma... I began to see pics of our beloved USVI on Friday and positively wept. The devastation is horrific in the wake of this storm, both in the Caribbean and in Florida. We were in a state of "lock down" here in an abundance of caution and so I spent yesterday alternating between watching hurricane and storm coverage and the 9/11 … [Read more...]

Five on Friday: New Finds

TGIF, friends!  And what a wacky busy week it was, in spite of Monday's holiday!  We're keeping a close eye on Irma -- we have friends, family, and a grandbaby in Florida and two of my kids close to the Georgia coastline.  We're praying for everyone's safety (and wise decisions!) and opening our home in case it's needed. These storms are so scary!!  And the photos coming out of our beloved St. Thomas/St John are devastating.  Another long … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Monday

Hello, strangers!  The last few weeks have truly been a whirlwind, but I feel like things are finally settling down a bit.  I've missed this little corner of the internet so I thought it was a good day to pop in and bring you up to speed!  And to let you know, I plan to be back to regular posting over the next week or so. :) As you know, our house was under contract and we closed on the sale at the end of June.  I think I'm still … [Read more...]

Good Reads: Organizing For Your Lifestyle Review and GIVEAWAY!

Greetings, friends and TGIF!  As you know I've been purging my household in preparation for our goal of downsizing... and boy have my eyes been opened!  I have spent a fair amount of time shaking my head over the accumulation of "stuff" throughout my home and thinking through how to bring order into our abode. Well I have a treat for you today in the way of sharing a new book that has been a timely resource for me these past several … [Read more...]

Three January Reads (What I’ve Read Lately)

Well, here we are at the beginning of FEBRUARY!  Goodness last month got a bit away from me!  But I did manage to finish three books as part of my personal goal to read more books this year. I started off with The Magnolia Story.  This was such a sweet and easy to read memoir -- if you're a fan of Chip and Jo I recommend it.  I found the back and forth between their two points of view charming;  you feel like you're in a real conversation … [Read more...]

What I’m Reading, Loving, and Working On…(and a Winner!)

Thank you to those that entered my Country Living Fair giveaway!  I've put the lucky winner at the bottom of this post... October is already flying by, isn't it?  I feel like I'm already running from one thing to another, don't you?  I have to say, though, October is one of my favorite months of the year with so many festive events, the gorgeous shift to fall weather and that teensy window of time to just enjoy before the madness of the … [Read more...]
