Gosh, it feels so good to check SOMETHING off my list! It’s been a busy week already with my son’s Football banquet last night (he got his varsity letter– woo hoo!) and preps for the hubs birthday on Friday. Oh, and finishing up decorating, crafts, dealing with a rodent problem, and Christmas festivities at the preschool. Hmm. Thank goodness for gingerbread lattes!
Anyhoo, my Christmas mantle is ready to be shared! Please note: I reserve the right to continue tweaking until December 24 {that’s just how I roll}. But I am so pleased with the way it looks now…
I decided to keep it as neutral as possible, with lots of metallics and a few pops of color. I’ll be adding some fresh greenery from the evergreens in my yard in a few days (it’s rainy and miserable out today, so you get the un-greenified version!).
Remember my paperwhites in the silver bowl I scored while antiquing? Look at ’em now! Can’t wait until they’ve bloomed. 🙂 The mercury glass candlestick is from Pottery Barn (last winter, on sale!) The pops of color are all contained in the glass vases in the form of ornaments.
The sparkly pine cone tree came from a little home decor store about ten years ago (they’ve since gone out of business). I just added a battery operated strand of mini lights. You see it at night, with the fire going! The little sequined votives came from Target on clearance wayyyyy back in 2001.
The “Peace” is a large ornament I picked up at WalMart last year in the after-Christmas sale. The wreath is from Southern Living at HOME and was a special promotion product several years ago. It’s called the Celebration Wreath and it’s a beautiful glitzy combination of pine cones, glass ornaments, and silver ornaments. It remains one of my all time favorite decorations and deserves a place on honor on the mantle this year.
I have a project in mind for those ivory pillars on the mercury glass candle stands, so don’t be surprised if they take on a different look soon. 🙂
There’s a reason I’m not showing you the rest of the fireplace… tune in Friday to find out why! So there you have it ~ my Christmas mantle. We just love how calm it feels. 🙂
How’s your holiday decorating progressing?
