Were you in? Did you join the ranks of thrifters all over America for I <3 Thrifting Day 2012??
I was so thrilled to be able to jump in briefly on Saturday, even though we’d just rolled in from the beach the night before and there was not a grocery item to be found in my refrigerator. Moms of little ones, you couldn’t pull this off — teenagers sleep until noon, so I knew I had a window of time Saturday morning to thrift and then hit the grocery store. 🙂
I joined Rhoda of Southern Hospitality’s group midway through their thrifting excursion at my nearby Queen of Hearts Antiques. They are relocating so many of the vendors were having great sales in their booths!
I was on the hunt for some glass bottles and any furniture deeply discounted that I could add to my own booth or refurbish. 🙂 We had a pretty large group of gals, so it took a little over an hour for us to go through and check out.
Rhoda and I met at Haven and realized we live about 10 minutes apart! She is every bit as nice in person as she is on her blog. She recently bought a house in nearby Kennesaw and is in the midst of a major renovation (chronicled on her blog!). Earlier that morning she’d taken the group by for a tour, which I missed out on (sad face).
Doesn’t she have the friendliest smile?
Once everyone was checked out, we headed across the street to Bargain City. This was quite the interesting thrift store! I love that you never know what you’ll find…
We were baffled by this tower of hat boxes that looked like a wedding cake!
After prowling around for a bit and challenging the ladies to do Mr Goodwill Hunting’s “sniff test” on upholstered pieces (gross but necessary!), I had to sprint for the grocery store. But we did get this fun group pic…
I so enjoyed hanging with Kelly from A View Along the Way (we met at Haven as well) and Lisa from Before Meets After! It’s so much fun connecting IRL (in real life) with other bloggers and thrifters that live in the area. Please excuse my just-home-from-the-beach look. I didn’t want to look too cute while thrifting (another Mr GW Hunting tip).
So what did I score??
Four glass bottles of various sizes! Two vintage fruit prints with the perfect amount of aging! And look at my “party favor” from Queen of Hearts Antiques — this rocking reusable tote. 🙂
I think these are my favorites…
I’m contemplating a new gallery wall to go over my family room sofa. Or they might end up in my booth. It’s good to have options. 🙂
I’d love to hear about your thrifting scores and if you joined a group for I Love Thrifting Day this year! And if you’ve blogged about it, leave a link your comment so I can visit!
Sharing this at Rhoda’s Thrifty Treasures party. 🙂
Happy Thrifting!
Good thing I didn’t realize those prints were $4 each or I would’ve had to fight you for them! 🙂 Such a fun day, I hope we can do it again soon!
Ohhh so much fun! I love thrifting, but I guess I missed that Saturday was I heart Thrifting day! I love the glass jars you found 🙂
Glad you ladies had so much fun!
So much fun! Totally jealous that you all live near each other, although with our 68 degree weather I’m not jealous of that Atlanta heat:)

What fun! While I didn’t have the t-shirt or the posse, I did hit a thrift shop with my daughter. Oh boy did I score! One was a freebie!! Will share next week.
And the sniff test – ugh!

I think you guys need to come to Curacao so we can go dumpster diving together … no such thing as thrift store here, but we’re bound to find something interesting. 🙂
It was so great to finally meet you! I hope we can go thrifting again soon 🙂 You had some amazing deals!
Heidi…looks like you all had a grand time!!…
