Well, you know what they say about the road to you-know-where…
I had high hopes in the DIY department. I mean REALLY high hopes. I had a holiday weekend staring me in the face, with the hubs out of town, and DIY supplies galore at my fingertips.
And then the armoire sold.
This mac daddy armoire in my booth space.
And then a couple of hours later, this bench sold…
And there were big gaping holes in my booth.
So I frantically began to finish up two pieces I had in process…
This coffee table and this little bookcase…
Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics! I was battling the weather, too — very cold and blustery, so the bookcase ended up in the middle of my kitchen floor to properly dry. 🙂 Good thing the hubs was out of town… that kind of disarray makes him nutty!
After a Sunday full of church, rushing home to paint the bookcase, and wax and buff the coffee table, and racing back to church for meetings, all my other DIY plans went down the tubes.
Yesterday I made an early morning airport shuttle run for Junior and then it was back to the booth to load and fluff… and now she looks like this…
A nice tower of tables to choose from…
That little bookcase makes a great display piece!
And this very cool vanity with my little green chair.
Whew!
Then I was off to get new tires on my car, which was a much more desperate situation than I’d initially realized. And, of course, since it was a holiday, every body and their dog was getting their tires rotated, oil changed, brakes done, etc. Even with an appointment I spent the better part of the afternoon twiddling my itching-to-DIY thumbs.
Thank goodness for apps.
And the new issue of HGTV magazine.
By the time I got home, the wind had picked up again, but I was not to be deterred from at least a little bit of DIY…
enter Krylon Emerald Green spray paint.
Just as the sun was going down and my crew was clamoring for dinner (why do they have to eat anyway?).
This is an awesome color, if you’re looking to add emerald green to your decor this year! Check out my Seeing Green Pinterest board if you’re not quite feeling it… hopefully that will inspire you.
I did get started on a planter project for a silent auction item for a Youth Group fundraiser next month. I’ll be sharing that later in the week.
So all was not lost in the DIY department. But it just goes to show you…
Blame it on the armoire. 🙂
Heidi,
Wow – made me tired just reading this! You were very busy. Thought it was interesting that I got new tires on my ride too! And it was quite a desperate situation here too. When we realized how bad they were, my hubby took it immediately (like drop everything and go). So, I got the tires done – but no fabulous DIY projects (loving the emerald green items) can’t wait to see them finished! M.
This is what I used to do: Make a big meal, then put it into small serving-size containers. Put some in the fridge, and some in the freezer, and tell people to warm it up themselves. *sheesh* Painting is important!
i am dying over the emerald green glimpses!!!!
love that little green chair!
That is great that your items are selling in your booth…love your pretty booth!…and love the Emerald green!!….
What???? The green chair is still there??!! Shoot I would have thought that would be long gone by now! 🙂 I love seeing your booth! You inspire me! If I could have a second hobby, I think having a booth would be a fun one! Anyways, love the green that you are adding!
Jaime
Whew!! You were a super busy woman!! But nonetheless, it’s good your items are selling. 🙂 It seems I always get more done when my husband is gone hehe 🙂
That green elephant is amazing! Looks like you could get it for $1000 at Jonathan Adler. LOVE.
I would say it’s absolutely the armoir’s fault … but hey, as long as you can blame it on somethings that sold it sounds like a success … even if you don’t feel all that accomplished. I’m exhausted just reading how busy you are. Love that new coffee table that’s now at the bottom of your tower … I bet she’ll be to blame next. 🙂
Wow! You’ve got some seriously great stuff! If that bench hadn’t already sold, I would be hopping in my car right now. The new stuff looks fabulous!
Just as I’m working on eradicating green from my home up pops Emerald Green as color of the year! What’s a girl to do?!!
Congrats on the awesome sales!
🙂 Linda
