Five on Friday: Favorite Podcasts

Happy Friday, friends!  I am jetting off to Texas today for a little family time and some Texas Aggie football… so excited!  And leaving my crew behind to carry on. 🙂  Follow me on Instagram for the fun!

I thought it would be fun for today’s Five on Friday for me to share five of my favorite podcasts.  A couple of months ago I started listening to podcasts when I go for my morning power walk and I am absolutely loving this small change in my routine.  I used to listen to music, but I had become bored with my playlists.  By listening to podcasts, I get fresh content every time — some funny, some thought-provoking, some inspiring, and some just down right interesting.  So here are my favorites, in case you want something new to listen to…

1.  The Big Boo Cast.  This podcast is recorded by Sophie Hudson (Boo Mama) and Melanie Shankle (Big Mama).

While no one would ever accuse these two ladies of being cerebral, they are so entertaining!  They chat about everything from college football to makeup and skincare to family life.  Always a treat when I see my podcast app updated with a new one of these!  Confession:  I have been known to LOL while listening to them.  You’ve been warned.

2.  Elise Gets Crafty.  Elise is an entrepreneur of the handmade goods variety.  Her online shop is mostly beautiful paper goods but her podcast covers all things creative and business for creatives.  She features a variety of guests that talk about being a creative entrepreneur, motivation, organization, and how they fit it all in.  I always come away with a nugget or two of helpful information!

3.  The Simple Show.  This is the re-launched podcast from Tsh Oxenreider (The Art of Simple).   I was a huge fan of her previous podcast and this re-launched version is just a bit fresher and every bit as fun and interesting.  She interviews authors, all types of creatives, and lifestyle “gurus” and every conversation leaves me thinking I’d like to learn more.  Thankfully she publishes show notes on the blog so I can go back and look up things that sparked my interest.

4.  Sorta Awesome with Megan Tietz. I just discovered this podcast when Megan was a guest on The Simple Show.  She’s gone from blogger to podcaster and is such fun to listen to!  Her voice alone is worth tuning in for but she generates great content, too.  She has two co-hosts and they answer listener questions and have heartfelt discussions about a wide variety of topics.  It’s been fun listening to older episodes!

5.  NPR’s Fresh Air.  I listened to this radio show for a while several years back, but it’s not convenient to tune in at 4pm every day.  So now I enjoy the podcast version of the radio show — current events, entertainment, books, culture.

One caveat — I pick and choose which episodes to download rather than subscribing.  Because it’s published daily, subscribing was causing a serious backlog of episodes that were taking up storage space on my phone, so now I pick and choose.

And so those are my current favorites!  I love the variety they afford.  I also will listen to Hope*ologie podcasts with Myquillen Smith (The Nester) and her sister Emily Freeman (chatting at the sky), and their dad Gary Moreland — great listening but those are only released about once a month.

Ok, so your turn — what are you listening to these days?  Have a great weekend everyone!
