My 2012 Word of the Year

I’ve spent the last week or so back at work in the classroom and continuing the “de-Christmas-ing” process at home.  I always get the urge to clean and sort and purge at the same time I’m packing up holiday decor, so the process takes longer than it should.  This year took even longer than usual.  I’ve been reeling {still }from my crazy fall and the holidays and all in all feeling a tad overwhelmed.  I blogged about it here if you want the down and dirty.

When I heard about Layla’s This Little Word of Mine linky party today, I decided it was important that I stake my claim for 2012.  You see, I don’t like feeling unsettled, uncomfortable, out of control– and that was a good bit of 2011.  CHANGE was everywhere in my life and I met it all head on, but I confess it got the best of me at times.

After a lot of thought and prayer and reflection on what I needed for the year ahead to be the best wife, mom, teacher, and blogger I can be, I landed on the word balance.

What a challenge this will be for me!  My mom says: “you have all 10 fingers in 10 different pies.”  And she’s right.  That’s how I roll.  I like to be busy.  I like variety in my endeavors.  I’m interested in lots of things.  There’s much I want to learn and do.  But I must balance it all in order to enjoy and live fully and not end the year in a heap of nerves and exhaustion.

So wish me luck, friends, and bear with me if a few days at a time go by without a post… I’m working on finding my balance. 🙂

Do you have a word for 2012?

Back soon with my winter mantle, the Mom Cave update, and some DIY projects… see you soon!
