August’s Favorite Things

Yowza, it’s so hard to believe we are rocking into SEPTEMBER!  A whole new crop of Little Ones to acclimate, new routines for my high schoolers, new football season, new goals for a successful school year.  But with all of that comes a whole lotta time constraints.  So if my visiting and commenting on blogs drops off a bit and I may have to post a little less, just know that I’m still here… still writing, DIY’ing as best I can, and reading as much as time allows!

And some more new beginnings… my partner and I are moving our booth space next month!  This change was prayerfully and carefully considered.  We are super excited and thrilled to be joining the Queen of Hearts Antiques team at their new Marietta location!  Doors will open in October, so look for some fun posts about our new (and improved) space.  🙂

Now, for my favorite things in August!

1.   Finished projects!!

Woo hoo for the dining room!  The final push was a real challenge with school/teaching and an illness thrown in, but we are truly loving the space and I am so proud to have crossed over into 100% completion territory!!

2.  New beginnings.

I complain a lot about school starting.  I’m a proponent of starting school after Labor Day not at the beginning of August.  But even I have to admit it’s exciting to be embarking on a new year of adventures.  You can see the college girls are pumped up, the boys (a.k.a. indentured servants) not so much. 🙂

3.  Polyvore!

A new guilty pleasure… as if I needed one. 🙂  I’ve only just begun to dabble on this site, but I’m looking forward to using it to help with upcoming room makeovers!  For now, here’s a fun “transition to fall” outfit I’m loving…

4. A good read.

I tried to be more intentional this summer about reading for pleasure (books, that is!) and this is a really, really good one. A bit dark in places, but such a fascinating read…

5. Last gasps of summer fun.

Yes, by the time you’re reading this, my hubs, boys and I will be beach-bound for our last hurrah. This is a Labor Day tradition of ours, and my own little rebellion against the early start of our school year. Yes, they are skipping school today… and I hope no school administrators are reading this. 🙂

Hoping you all have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend!  See you in September!
