Five on Friday

Happy First (Official) Day of Summer! Seems only appropriate that it would fall on a Friday, right? I see lots of late night swimming, grilling, and lightning bug catching for many of you this evening. 🙂 I, personally, am celebrating that I managed to get three posts up this week! Let’s hope it’s a trend…

Today I’m resurrecting the Five on Friday posts – a random collection of things that have caught my attention over the past week.

  1. Amazon’s Prime Book Box for Kids. This came to my attention a few months ago, but after spending time with our 23-month old granddaughter last weekend, it came back on my radar. It’s a subscription box (every 1, 2, or 3 months) of curated books for the child — age-appropriate of course. I love the idea of her having “fresh” choices of books every couple of months, especially as she shifts from picture books to story books. Great gift idea, don’t you think?
  2. If you’re a history and architecture buff like me, you’ll love this round up of historic homes to visit by Architectural Digest. I loved this reminder of how rich our own American architectural history is!

3. I’m itching to pull my watercolors out again. There’s something so soothing about the act of painting and since I’m not painting rooms or furniture these days, maybe this is the ticket? Emily of Jones Design Company offers a Simplified Watercolor class online (and one for kids, too!) that I’m pondering. She is quite the talent and embarked on a watercolor sketch a day discipline this year that’s been really fun to follow. She posts them daily on Instagram with an occasional time-lapse video of her process. Fascinating!

4. Know anything about Intermittent Fasting?? It’s been mentioned several times on my social media feeds over the last year or so, so now I’m curious. Insights or experiences anyone??

5. I’m looking forward to being with some Little Ones for camp next week! My day-to-day is so very quiet without them. And I’m sure their mamas will appreciate the mini-break in the midst of summer! I call that a win-win.

Wishing y’all a great weekend, celebrating summer in all it’s fun-loving, relaxing glory. See you next week!
