Loving: Collections

I’m jetting off to NYC today to have some girlfriend time with my BFF — woo hoo!  After dealing (still) with our roof rat issue and taking care of all my boys/men, I’m ready for a pink apartment on the Upper East Side, sleeping in, Broadway shows, champagne, a little antique browsing, and lots of visits on the sofa. 🙂

But don’t worry, I’m not leaving you high and dry! I did a post a couple of weeks ago over at Fancy Little Things about collections in decor, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite collections with you today, in the name of all things feminine.  I’ve also put together a pinboard of ideas for displaying collections, so check it out HERE.

I have a small collection of tea cups that I’ve picked up here and there and received as gifts from my mom and my grandmother.  I love stacking them up!  Not only can you see and appreciate their patterns and shapes, but it makes a nice vertical accent on my Mom Cave shelves. {The Emily Giffin book is an autographed copy– love her!}.

This little girl had her saucer broken by the aforementioned males of the household… so she now holds my few pieces of hotel silverware.  I hope my teaspoons and demitasse spoons outgrow this little vessel soon, but for now, she’s perfect.

This pretty lady on my desk has a fab purpose — other than looking gorgeous.

Ha ha — I just noticed the push pin in her saucer!  Anyway, I like to put my collections to work…

I mean, why not make beautiful things functional, too?  I have a few others I’ll be assigning useful functions to soon.  My Mom Cave continues to take shape. 🙂

So contemplate what pretty collections you could put to use in your own space this weekend.  I’ll be immersed in “Girl World” in the Big City… try not to hate me.

Sharing the love…
