Guest Room Progress…

Have you ever noticed how a making up a bed makes a bedroom feel more pulled together?   Things are slowly coming together in the guest room, but I was totally jazzed when I got the sheets, blankets, and pillows on the beds. I'm going with simple white sheets and cotton blankets for now... I've always loved that summery look.    I'm still on the lookout for shams... I'm thinking a Euro sham, because the beds are actually tall, even though … [Read more...]

Thinking Wall Decor {for the Guest Room}

Trucking right along!  I'm drilling down on bedding for the guest room, using some basics I already have and filling in the gaps as economically as possible.  Fun!  Especially since it involved a trip to HomeGoods, armed with a 2 gift cards I've been hoarding for a while. I picked up a few things for the beds, but also found these... My wheels have been turning about the wall decor for this room and I'm planning on using a few things … [Read more...]

Scott’s Success and some Friday Eye Candy

Last Friday a girlfriend and I trekked down to Scott's Antique Market on the south side of Atlanta.  It's one of those have-your-eyes-wide-open-and-comfy-shoes-on experiences, if you've never been!  I was VERY good, honoring my No Spend Month, and only snagging a few things for the booth.  But I got lots of inspiration, too. Here's pics of a few things that inspired me.  Sorry for the iPhone pics! Pillows galore... check out all the … [Read more...]

NOVICA: Unique Pieces for the Home and More

When I was contacted several weeks ago to do a product review for NOVICA, I had never heard of the company.  Before responding I spent some time perusing their website and was instantly smitten with what they sell and what they do.  You see, it's two-fold:  NOVICA is a showcase, in association with National Geographic,  of artisans and their wares from all over the world -- jewelry, home decor, apparel, artwork -- all crafted in their native … [Read more...]

A Home for the Watercolors {Thrift Store Frames}

At last.  A home for my grandmother's watercolors that she painted back in the 1950's.  After months of searching art supply and framing stores and pondering custom frames, a simple pair of thrift store frames got the gig. Once they got a little facelift and were paired with prefab mats from Michael's, they were the perfect solution. I love the way the finish turned out (read about that here).  I love that both her hands and … [Read more...]

Thrift Store Frames Revamp {Chalk Paint}

I'm alive but functioning at about 50% -- not good when you have a dining room in total disarray and company on the way!  I've put my indentured servants teenagers to work helping clean and fluff for the grandparents... times like this I love having older kids!  Thank you for your well wishes yesterday - I so needed your words of encouragement. I was hoping to share a fully completed project today using these thrift store frames, but I'm … [Read more...]

Passing It On… Etc.

Last weekend was one of the busiest of late, but I managed to finish my Pass It On projects in the midst of the May Madness...  woo hoo!  Here's a couple of sneak peeks until I can get them safely en route to Megan of Balancing Home and Lisa of Budget Design Girl.  I'm so thrilled these sweet lady bloggers have agreed to partake! This project is one that evolved as I was working on it... I started out with one idea in mind. Wrestled a … [Read more...]

Healing

I'm not going to lie ~ it felt good to unplug just a bit. Much as I love and appreciate you all, I just haven't had anything good to share the past week. The kids and I circled the wagons. My oldest son travelled to the funeral with his dad, read a poem, read scripture from some font of strength for the 2000 people that gathered to mourn sweet Kaely Camacho.  I watched him become a man this week. I loved on my own 13 year old, who's … [Read more...]

Looky What I Found… {Faceless Angels}

Today seems like a great day to share one of my favorite new acquisitions.   I picked this painting up in a little shop in Montgomery, Alabama while visiting a dear friend a couple of months ago.  The artist is Donnie Sasser and he calls this one of his "Faceless Angel" paintings.  There were many to choose from, but I loved the scale of this one. Ha ha, I've actually moved it (during a recent "tweaking" session), but … [Read more...]
