October’s Favorite Things

Can you believe it's November?  Do you feel that clock ticking toward Christmas like I do??  Wow! This October was a jam-packed, fun-filled, stress-inducing month.  Wonder what November will be like???  I'm scared.  Hold me. Just kidding!  But seriously, we were out of town quite a bit, running our legs off while in town, and hanging by a thread about the opening of the new antique mall where my booth will be.  Oh, and out of town company … [Read more...]

Six Months

It was six months ago today that we lost our sweet Kaely to a drunk driver in Miami.  This is such a hole in my children's hearts and as I watch my Jack thriving and loving his first year of high school, I can't help but think how unfair it is that she's not doing the same.   Rest in peace, sweet girl.   Hug your children, friends. … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist… Taking Care of Business

Woo hoo!  I spent Thursday night getting a few nagging things done... Cross "order Christmas cards" off my list! Thanks to PicMonkey and Shutterfly, I've got these babies printing up right NOW!   5x7 Folded Card View the entire collection of cards. Is this a motley crew or what?  We're so scattered, I've gotten in the habit of snapping pics of whomever is together at any point in time and doing a collage of … [Read more...]

September’s Favorite Things

Another busy weekend behind us and another busy week before us!  And here we are in October! Wow, as reluctant as I was to embrace September, I have to admit that it's a pretty wonderful month.  And it's been a little rocky, too, so I was so happy to pull together this post of the wonderful things I enjoyed.  Always good to camp out on the positive, no? So without further ado... my favorite things from September! 1.  3 of my favorite … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Friday

What a week.  All I can say is T.G.I.F.  My Little Crazies at school have been exactly that -- CRAZY.  I'm not sure what it is about this group, but my assistant and I have had a hard time reining them in.  Makes for some very loooooong days and a lot of evenings of being completely spent and brain-dead.  Not good for creative juices!  It's pretty clear most of my creativity will have to happen on the weekends this year! This weekend I'm … [Read more...]

August’s Favorite Things

Yowza, it's so hard to believe we are rocking into SEPTEMBER!  A whole new crop of Little Ones to acclimate, new routines for my high schoolers, new football season, new goals for a successful school year.  But with all of that comes a whole lotta time constraints.  So if my visiting and commenting on blogs drops off a bit and I may have to post a little less, just know that I'm still here... still writing, DIY'ing as best I can, and reading as … [Read more...]

July’s Favorite Things

I have no idea where the summer has gone.  But I'm pretty clear on where I have gone!  Hmm... Lake Blue Ridge GA (twice), Lake Rabun GA, Eufaula AL, Destin FL, Huntsville AL, and Albany GA.  Lotsa travel, people.  The hubs likes to pick up and go. :)  We've had a busy summer and it's already winding down... soon I'll be brushing up on my curriculum and brainstorming bulletin boards for my classroom.  Yikes!  This week it's all about the boys... … [Read more...]

An {in}spired Finishing Touch (Front Porch Makeover)

I'm a self-professed 90% girl when it comes to projects.  I have a tendancy to get a home project or room makeover about 90% complete and then I either run out of steam or get distracted by some other project I'm longing to get started on.  One of my goals for this year was to finish what I start and I'm so proud to say I have completed my front porch summer makeover.  I mean, it's only July 25th, right? :-) This is one of those posts where … [Read more...]

A Home for the Watercolors {Thrift Store Frames}

At last.  A home for my grandmother's watercolors that she painted back in the 1950's.  After months of searching art supply and framing stores and pondering custom frames, a simple pair of thrift store frames got the gig. Once they got a little facelift and were paired with prefab mats from Michael's, they were the perfect solution. I love the way the finish turned out (read about that here).  I love that both her hands and … [Read more...]

June’s Favorite Things

Gosh I thought May was crazy, but June has been a little nutty, too!  I secretly enjoy the revolving door days of summer with all the kids home and their friends in tow.  And then there's the sky high grocery bills and endless dishes and laundry.  But I'm willing to overlook those things to enjoy our summer time together. :) I've got some exciting things planned around my house in July, so stay tuned for those, but in the meantime, here are my … [Read more...]
