Ever find yourself ready to move on by the end of the year? After some extensive travelling this holiday week, I find myself ready to BRING it in 2012! I'm spending today digging through mail (and email), watching some football, and cooking up a storm for my houseful and our celebration tonight. I'm also hoping for some quiet moments to reflect on all I've learned this past year, where I want to go in 2012, both personally and here in this … [Read more...]

Christmas Touches around the House
I hope this finds you relaxing and enjoying the holiday season... finally! And it's high time I shared some of my Christmas touches around my home. Confession: I only just finished decorating a few days ago. I had to say "uncle" with everything going on around here, so I didn't get to some of the projects I had planned. But maybe next year. In the family room... My beloved wisemen with a berry garland, the shepherd and sheep, … [Read more...]
Favorite Christmas Treat {Reindeer Food}
I started making this treat for family and friends several years ago-- a recipe torn from a magazine in the doctor's office. I can't even remember which magazine, sadly, but it's favorite to make, share, and enjoy. We call it reindeer food. :) Here's all you need: The cereal is either corn or rice chex (I just grabbed a bag, so I really don't know what this batch holds. :)) I use the microwave to soften the almond bark-- much easier … [Read more...]

And the Winner Is…
Woo hoo!! Congratulations, Nancy Verderosa!! You were selected by random.org as the winner of the gorgeous Celebration Wreath! I was especially touched by her comment: "In the past, I would have made my own wreath, but being a single mother of three, and trying to start my own pottery business, I have very little time to make one, especially one as elegant as this. If I were to win it, I would want everyone on my block to enjoy it’s … [Read more...]
Book Page Christmas Tree {Easy DIY}
Since I've gone all cool gray in the Mom Cave, I decided to put some cool new Christmas decorations on the corner of my desk. I don't normally decorate in there at all-- too much going on usually, but we've pared down furniture and accessories, simplified the function of the space a bit, and I decided a nice simple holiday touch would be fitting! I put together this little grouping on the corner of my desk, where I can enjoy it while I work … [Read more...]

The Stocking Dilemma
I love to change up my holiday decor every year, but this year I went further with a new color palette in my family room than ever before. Lots of neutrals and metallics with only a few pops of color... keeping it simple. Because I'm working around these... These are our family stockings... and there are stories there. This is the one that started it all-- my stocking, made by my great-aunts for my first Christmas 44 years ago. The felt … [Read more...]
