Mom Cave Progress {Sneak Peek}

I haven't had many projects to share lately, but I have made lots of incremental progress on a few rooms in the house.  My Mom Cave is truly an evolution of a space, more than a year in the works.  Am I patient or what?? :-) Getting the paint done was huge progress. And very time consuming.  But I love it more every day.  The gray is Behr Silver Sateen, the cream is Porter Velvet White. Then I hung Inslee's art work... And got … [Read more...]

April’s Favorite Things

Can you believe April has come and almost gone?  Time just keeps ticking away... I confess I'm looking forward to the end of school for myself and my kids (though I will miss my Little Ones terribly!).  We're ready for some down time around here! It's been a difficult month for us, but I spent some time over the weekend thinking about all the things I loved about April.  A great exercise during hard times... 1.  My … [Read more...]

Daydreaming {Country Living Inspiration}

I can't believe it took me so long to discover Country Living magazine.  Back in January when I was organizing my inspiration binder, I was amazed by how many images I'd pulled out of my Country Living magazines (and by how many issues I had paid retail for -- duh!).  Time to subscribe, no? This past couple of weeks while I was largely unplugged, I spent a little time catching up on my shelter magazines.  Do yours ever pile up on you? When … [Read more...]

Gift Ideas for Mom and Teachers

It's been a while since I plugged my Willow House business, so I decided to share some of my favorite gifts from our Spring catalog today.  With Mother's Day around the corner and the hunt for teacher gifts beginning, I've pulled together some under $40 options for you.  Remember you can order directly from my website and it will be shipped to you -- no party hostess business to contend with. :) So here you go... This Simone pitcher is … [Read more...]

Healing

I'm not going to lie ~ it felt good to unplug just a bit. Much as I love and appreciate you all, I just haven't had anything good to share the past week. The kids and I circled the wagons. My oldest son travelled to the funeral with his dad, read a poem, read scripture from some font of strength for the 2000 people that gathered to mourn sweet Kaely Camacho.  I watched him become a man this week. I loved on my own 13 year old, who's … [Read more...]

A Short Break…

Dear friends, My heart is heavy and concentrated on my children this week, as we mourn the loss of one of their sweet cousins. When they gather again this summer, this heart will be one young person smaller. One man's choice to get behind the wheel while intoxicated has changed this family forever. Last week I posted about my "faceless angel" painting.  That painting has a face to me now.  One with blue eyes and blonde hair and a … [Read more...]

Looky What I Found… {Faceless Angels}

Today seems like a great day to share one of my favorite new acquisitions.   I picked this painting up in a little shop in Montgomery, Alabama while visiting a dear friend a couple of months ago.  The artist is Donnie Sasser and he calls this one of his "Faceless Angel" paintings.  There were many to choose from, but I loved the scale of this one. Ha ha, I've actually moved it (during a recent "tweaking" session), but … [Read more...]

Going Green…

Hi gang! I'm posting over at Fancy Little Things today about easy "green" decorating... here's a hint:  check your pantry or your grocery store circulars. :) Pop over and say hello! How about some Thursday eye candy for you?   Source: tumblr.com via Heidi on Pinterest   Ahhhh.  Have a great day, everyone! … [Read more...]

Goodwill Chair + Chalk Paint

So excited to share this little furniture makeover with you!  Remember this chair I scored at Goodwill for $1.50? Sorry for the blurry iPhone picture, but you get the gist, right? Well, after some tlc, Annie Sloan Old White and clear wax... Isn't she a cutie now?  All decked out in her Old Time Pottery fabric and chalk paint? A little distressing, some waxing... I have to say, the lipstick on this pig did the … [Read more...]

Shopping on Saturday {Thrifty Finds}

Hi everyone!  Hoping you had a marvelous Easter weekend with family and friends, and maybe a little time for relaxing. :) We celebrated my girl's 19th birthday in addition to Easter, so it was a busy one for us, but a joyous one for sure.  I did slip out for a bit on Saturday while she was lunching with friends and made a quick run through Queen of Hearts Antiques.  I still had a little birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and I had my … [Read more...]
