Paris Gray Console

Happy Flag Day, friends!!  I hope you're showing your patriotism today by displaying our flag! Even my back deck has gotten in on the action... We've got another busy weekend planned, but I sure am enjoying my summertime! This week I finished up that sad little console table with the great legs...  remember her? She was a freebie with a corner missing on her drawer...  but I figured with a simple makeover and the right price, … [Read more...]

In Case You Missed It {May}

I had to chuckle when I remembered writing about how crazy my month of May would be and that you might not see much of me on the blog during that month... ha!  I'm so thrilled to be into June when I can breathe a little, take stock of what projects I'd like to accomplish this summer, and catch up on blogging and reading. In case you missed some of these May moments, here's a look back! We squeezed in a lake getaway to recharge before … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Monday {ASCP Graphite Table}

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! Only 7 more school days for me with kiddos and then a work day and then --- graduation time!  Fortunately, my head cold didn't hang around too long (thank you, Airborne and Alka Seltzer Plus!), and I managed to make some major headway finishing up the guest room so it should be ready to share late this week.  I also tackled the garage (with some teenage help) and though it's … [Read more...]

More Guest Room Progress :)

This week will probably kill me.  Just letting you know... and before it totally gets away from me, I wanted to show you MORE progress in the guest room (plus do a little thinking-out-loud to you!). I finished up that thrifted lamp makeover and got her situated on the dresser. Now that I'm pulling the room together slowly, I'm thinking of leaving the dresser as is for now -- maybe just switching out the hardware?  I like the color in … [Read more...]

Guest Room Progress: The Beds

Woo hoo!!  The twin beds are done and I'm so pleased with how they turned out!  If you remember, I had done two coats of a white wash using Annie Sloan Old White and the finish was still too faint.  I was striving for that balance of white tone but with some of the wood grain showing through. On my third try, I made the white wash with a heavier dose of paint and let it sit for a minute before wiping it off.  Success!  I ended up with this … [Read more...]

Happy Monday & Guest Room Progress

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's back to work I go...Time sure flies when you're having fun and I did enjoy myself over Spring Break last week. I want to thank you all for your sweet comments and prayers as we marked one year since losing Kaely.  I'm not going to lie, I was very emotional this weekend.  I still wrestle with fear every time my own children walk out the door.  I want to put them all in a bubble where they'll be forever safe from the choices … [Read more...]

Guest Room Update and a Spring Break Recap

I always underestimate the amount of time it takes to paint a room!  I tend to conveniently forget how much time it takes to spackle holes, sand rough places, touch up and/or tape off trim... you know -- the prep work.  Ugh. And let's just say that prepping what was a formerly teenage space for painting is no picnic.  I won't get into details, but let's just say evidence of pocket knife abuse was discovered, along with an overloaded wall shelf … [Read more...]

A New Before & After: Armoire Makeover

Happy hump day!  I'm in the midst of the painting of my guest room today (woo hoo!) but I have a fun makeover to share with you. I scored this armoire from a friend and though I loved the lines and details, the finish was in seriously sad shape. I used wood putty to fill out some deep gauges and then tackled her with some Annie Sloan Versailles.  Two coats later, with a little wet rag distressing and a coat of clear wax... here she … [Read more...]

Thrifty Find Stencil Makeover

Howdy!  We're still socked in with gray skies and SNOW FLURRIES here in Atlanta, but I've got a thrifty find makeover that has me ready for spring -- and I think it took about 10 minutes tops! This was one of my February DIYs that had been waiting since about November, when I scored this wooden handled bin at the thrift store for a couple of dollars.   I used it in my booth through the holidays to hold books and holiday … [Read more...]

Easy DIY Typography Planter (“Howdy!)

TGIF, friends!  And Happy March to you! Today I'm sharing a super easy project.  My favorite project from my Silent Auction home decor array is this planter. It just makes me happy.  It's friendly.  Now there's an adjective you don't hear much any more!  But this little 'ole planter... she's friendly. So I thought I'd be a good neighbor and share this project.  No rocket science involved. :)   Since I was using what I … [Read more...]
