It’s the Little Things (and NYC Recap)

The weekend already?  Jeez, time flies in the summertime... Thursday I journeyed down IKEA with my daughter to do some apartment shopping for her.   That place never ceases to amaze me, and I shopped IKEA in Northern Virginia back in 1989 for MY first apartment!  It was pretty cool then and it's even more so now... so of course I picked up a few little things for me, too. :) Like this $4 pillow cover for an insert I already … [Read more...]

Happy Fourth of July!

Ours looks like a wash out for outdoor fun, so we'll be having dinner with friends indoors later on... That's okay, though... we'll still be thanking God for our blessings and our troops for protecting our freedoms. Hope you have a safe and blessed Fourth! … [Read more...]

Ten Things Tuesday…

Y'all I am scattered, smothered, and covered. Maybe it's all the short trips out of town on the heels of a crazy month of May. Maybe it's just summertime with a houseful. Maybe I just can't get my act together. When I sat down to write a post for y'all, my brain was all over the place.  So I decided to take you down the rabbit hole of my thoughts... 1.  I want a vegetable garden.  Not sure I want all the work that comes with one, … [Read more...]

Endings

Hello, gang! I'm so chock full of emotions these days, I can't even find words right now.  Those of you that have had crazy times of endings know what I'm saying... My guests have begun arriving, the party prep is ongoing, and tomorrow, this handsome guy will close out a chapter in his life (where did the time go???). I also said "goodbye" to my Little Ones yesterday, after a crazy gratifying emotional roller coaster of a day with … [Read more...]

Guest Room Update and a Spring Break Recap

I always underestimate the amount of time it takes to paint a room!  I tend to conveniently forget how much time it takes to spackle holes, sand rough places, touch up and/or tape off trim... you know -- the prep work.  Ugh. And let's just say that prepping what was a formerly teenage space for painting is no picnic.  I won't get into details, but let's just say evidence of pocket knife abuse was discovered, along with an overloaded wall shelf … [Read more...]

Thoughts: Mary on the Day After

An unusual post, since I don't normally post on the weekends, but this weekend is special... tomorrow is the beginning of the story with the discovery of the empty tomb. But what about the day in between?  In between that awful day when He was hung upon the cross and the day He rose?  Two years ago I penned a post on my personal and family blog about just that, and I thought I would share those thoughts with you today... That was her … [Read more...]

Day of Quiet…

Dear friends, While I was in NY celebrating my daughter's stellar semester at UGA, my heart was breaking for the mothers and fathers of Sandy Brook that were robbed of that chance with their own children. I was getting the local NY news on site long before most of you got the word. The horror is unimaginable. So is the realization that many are using this tragedy to further their own agendas. So I'm going quiet today... to honor … [Read more...]
