Scott’s Success and some Friday Eye Candy

Last Friday a girlfriend and I trekked down to Scott's Antique Market on the south side of Atlanta.  It's one of those have-your-eyes-wide-open-and-comfy-shoes-on experiences, if you've never been!  I was VERY good, honoring my No Spend Month, and only snagging a few things for the booth.  But I got lots of inspiration, too. Here's pics of a few things that inspired me.  Sorry for the iPhone pics! Pillows galore... check out all the … [Read more...]

Up and Running!

Woo hoo, we are officially open for business at the newest Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors location!  The last couple of weeks have been hour-to-hour as far as whether we had the Certificate of Occupancy and could get moved in.  I re-tagged much of my inventory from my previous space, and had new things to add in, so I was (and my garage was) in quite a state! But it's up and running and we have a Holiday Open House on Tuesday November … [Read more...]

Chalk Paint Secretary {Dining Room Details}

Oh, how I agonized.  What color to paint, and HOW to paint this beauty... an antique secretary that belonged to my aunt back in her girlhood.  I've had the piece for over 20 years and it was time for some TLC and a makeover so she could really shine!  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to the rescue! I finally had to bite the bullet and start painting. :)  And ended up with this...   A custom paint color of Annie Sloan Paris Gray … [Read more...]

Thrifty Finds {Try Not to Hate Me}

Gotta love a successful afternoon of thrifting at your local antique mall!  On Tuesday, I was blessed to spend the afternoon with the lovely Charity from The Heartfelt Home.  We enjoyed a delish lunch in downtown Roswell and strolled over to the Canton Street Antique Mall to poke around and see what we could find. I totally scored! See those wooden spoon display racks?  Those will be incorporated into the wall art phase of my Ugly … [Read more...]

I Love Thrifting Day 2012!

Were you in?  Did you join the ranks of thrifters all over America for I <3 Thrifting Day 2012?? I was so thrilled to be able to jump in briefly on Saturday, even though we'd just rolled in from the beach the night before and there was not a grocery item to be found in my refrigerator.  Moms of little ones, you couldn't pull this off -- teenagers sleep until noon, so I knew I had a window of time Saturday morning to thrift and then hit the … [Read more...]

Shopping on Saturday & Some Thrifty Finds

We had a gangbusters weekend around here, working on my To-Do List, celebrating a few graduations, church, and prepping for my last week with the Little Ones.   Whew!  But I managed to squeeze in a quick trip to the Junk Day at Woodstock Antique Market on a quest for things for the booth and a fly-by of one of my favorite home decor stores, Casabella's. It was for sure a case of "the early bird gets the worm" at Junk Day... Those frames … [Read more...]

Shopping on Saturday {Thrifty Finds}

Hi everyone!  Hoping you had a marvelous Easter weekend with family and friends, and maybe a little time for relaxing. :) We celebrated my girl's 19th birthday in addition to Easter, so it was a busy one for us, but a joyous one for sure.  I did slip out for a bit on Saturday while she was lunching with friends and made a quick run through Queen of Hearts Antiques.  I still had a little birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and I had my … [Read more...]

New Additions

Remember when I said how much I loved my winter decor?  I mean, I l-0-v-e-d the look.  Famous last words because I'm a perpetual tweaker. :)  And a few new additions have me loving my winter look even more. I posted about my One Kings Lane finds a few weeks ago.  Well, when they arrived I could hardly contain my excitement.  And promptly added them to the mix in the family room. Recognize the round vintage botanical?  How awesome is … [Read more...]

Shopping on Saturday…

Yes, one of the things I love about January is that it's much easier for me to find time to shop.  You know, prowl around a little, scope and dig for a deal... that kind of shopping.  Not the sprint-into-Target-with-your-milelong-list-and-only-20-minutes kind of shopping. Last weekend, I stopped into Queen of Hearts Antiques (Marietta) and Old Time Pottery.  And I hit the jackpot for under $35 TOTAL.  Remember my hotel silver piece I … [Read more...]

This ‘n That and January Favorites

Confession: I'm a little sad to see January go.  No, I'm not crazy, I promise!  I know many struggle with post-holiday let-down, gray days, cold weather, etc.  But as my family has grown and gotten busier, I've come to relish the down time that January represents.  It's a time to regroup, clean out your files and closets, eat a little better, sleep a little more, spend a little more quiet time with loved ones and a good book.  January is fresh … [Read more...]
