My Thursday Gig and a Peek at the Mom Cave

Did you know I have a regular Thursday gig?  You can find me at FancyLittleThings.com every Thursday where I blog about home and garden with snippets of faith thrown in. I love my space over there, because my talented editors Aimee and Danielle come up with theme for each month.  My challenge is to blog within my niche (for the most part) while addressing the theme of the month.  July was "Beside Restful Waters" and I had fun with that, … [Read more...]

Catalog Finds {Willow House}

Somewhere in my summer hoopla, the new Willow House catalog came out and went live on my website! I finally got my hands on them and decided it would be a perfect Catalog Finds post!   While there are some really gorgeous new pieces in the Fall catalog, I was also pleased to see the return of some customer favorites. I don't know how long those will be around, so if you see one you want, you might want to snap it up! Let's get … [Read more...]

More Thrifty Finds {Can’t Stop Myself}

Oh, well.  My back-to-school schedule will soon severely curtail my thrifting, so I was guilt -free when I hit an outdoor flea market with my friend and booth partner Michelle on Friday.  The onslaught of check-writing has already begun (those of you with school age children know of what I speak!), so funds were limited, but I scored some super fun deals anyway. :) Paint projects galore!!  And check out those wooden mill bobbins.  I have … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Friday {Online Wall Decor Deals}

Happy Friday, friends!  It's been a crazy week -- one of those weeks where everyone needed me for something as we prep for back-to-college/school around here.  Gosh I hope I get it together in the next week or so! Anyhoo, today is all about the DEAL.  Who doesn't love a good deal-- especially for wall decor?? I came across this deal a few weeks ago on Decor Steals (formerly WUSLU)...   I could not have imagined a more perfect … [Read more...]

July’s Favorite Things

I have no idea where the summer has gone.  But I'm pretty clear on where I have gone!  Hmm... Lake Blue Ridge GA (twice), Lake Rabun GA, Eufaula AL, Destin FL, Huntsville AL, and Albany GA.  Lotsa travel, people.  The hubs likes to pick up and go. :)  We've had a busy summer and it's already winding down... soon I'll be brushing up on my curriculum and brainstorming bulletin boards for my classroom.  Yikes!  This week it's all about the boys... … [Read more...]

Ugly Duckling Dining Room {Blogging Without Borders}: Lighting

I really need another day to update you fully on my Ugly Duckling Dining Room lighting.  You know as part of our Blogging Without Borders project?  If you're new around here, you might want to check out my project here and the progress here.  It's fun to see it coming together! So you might actually get a bonus post later this week on more lighting!  But there is definitely progress on this front, so I'll go ahead and share where I am … [Read more...]

Thrifty Finds {Try Not to Hate Me}

Gotta love a successful afternoon of thrifting at your local antique mall!  On Tuesday, I was blessed to spend the afternoon with the lovely Charity from The Heartfelt Home.  We enjoyed a delish lunch in downtown Roswell and strolled over to the Canton Street Antique Mall to poke around and see what we could find. I totally scored! See those wooden spoon display racks?  Those will be incorporated into the wall art phase of my Ugly … [Read more...]

An {in}spired Finishing Touch (Front Porch Makeover)

I'm a self-professed 90% girl when it comes to projects.  I have a tendancy to get a home project or room makeover about 90% complete and then I either run out of steam or get distracted by some other project I'm longing to get started on.  One of my goals for this year was to finish what I start and I'm so proud to say I have completed my front porch summer makeover.  I mean, it's only July 25th, right? :-) This is one of those posts where … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist… this East Hampton Cottage

You all know I'm a shelter mag junkie and I'm sure many of you are as well.  One of my favorite inspirations for sophisticated design inspiration is Traditional Home and the July/August issue did not disappoint.  While I was trying not to throw up laid up with that stomach bug last week, I had a chance to dig into my copy and immediately fell in love with the East Hampton cottage of Patricia and Jeffrey Fisher. Does this speak to … [Read more...]

A Home for the Watercolors {Thrift Store Frames}

At last.  A home for my grandmother's watercolors that she painted back in the 1950's.  After months of searching art supply and framing stores and pondering custom frames, a simple pair of thrift store frames got the gig. Once they got a little facelift and were paired with prefab mats from Michael's, they were the perfect solution. I love the way the finish turned out (read about that here).  I love that both her hands and … [Read more...]
