What’s Inspiring Me for Fall…

Well, it's back to early fall after enjoying a week at the beach with my high school senior for his fall break.  And true to form, it's been gray, rainy, misty, and cool ever since we got home!  But now that I had my last gasp of summer, I'm ready to fully embrace fall -- changing leaves, cozy decor and all. The week before I left, the blogosphere was full of fall home tours and I found loads of inspiration sifting through all the posts.  I'll … [Read more...]

Ready for Fall?

Hello, friends!  I hope you all had a super Labor Day weekend... we spent some good time chilling on our deck and watching football (woo hoo!!) and a little US Open tennis.  So nice to recharge at home this year. I'm usually a little of a hold-out when it comes to fall... I just adore summer and everything that goes along with it!  But this year I think I'm actually kind of ready for fall.  Maybe because Labor Day fell a little later?  Maybe … [Read more...]

Come on, SPRING!

We just had the most delightful weekend here in the ATL -- chilly mornings, mild afternoons, and -- most importantly -- sunshine!  I didn't mind spending hours at the soccer field because... well -- sun!  Goodness it did wonders for my mindset.  And it got me craving a little spring brightness in my abode, too. Even though I just refreshed my winter mantel a couple of weeks ago, let's face it.  Those first few pretty spring days just get my … [Read more...]

Five on Friday

What a crazy week!  Three snow days (with REAL snow) and a quick trip to Albany for the funeral of an extended family member... lots of good busy stuff going on, too.  So it seemed a great idea to share five random things with you today... 1.  There's nothing quite as peaceful as a snowy evening.  We made it back in town just as the snow was beginning to accumulate and conditions were deteriorating... so it was lovely to light the fire, cook … [Read more...]

Declutter and Donate: My 2015 Lenten Discipline

Several years ago, I abandoned the idea of "giving something up" for Lent every year.  You see I was always landing on wine or chips and salsa or some such sacrifice that ended up ringing hollow in the spirit of Lent. It's a time for reflection, repentance, and self-examination, after all.  Five years ago I challenged myself to list 1000 gifts during Lent, after reading Ann Voskamp's One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You … [Read more...]

Winter Door Decor and on Choosing Joy

Happy Monday, friends... I hope you all had a restful weekend! After all the turmoil of the past weeks I did rest a bit and did a LOT of work towards a new undertaking I'll share with you soon.  And I finally got the Christmas decorations off the front porch.  Yes, we were THAT family this year.  Ugh.  Anyhoo, getting my front porch cleared and refreshed for winter got me thinking about winter door decor.  And a quick visit to Pinterest gave me … [Read more...]

It’s All About the Margin… {Personal Goal}

Happy Monday, friends... I'm off for MLK Day today and what a delicious gift a simple day off can be!  I know -- I just returned to work after two weeks of Christmas vacation, but if you recall I was traveling heavily and also dealing with serious turmoil at my school so my "break" was not a restful one.  And oh, how I need rest.  Don't we all? I've been thinking a lot lately about how to restore some margin in my world -- you know -- that … [Read more...]

Five on Friday (and my Winter Mantel)

Friday, y'all... and I am so thankful.  This was another week of meetings and prayer as my precious school is being put through the ringer.  I can't go into all the details yet, but let me just say: Satan is alive and well.  I have never experienced spiritual warfare before, but I'm enduring it now.  So if my posts are a bit scarce for a while it is because I am drained.  BUT, I am optimistic and continue praying and seeking joy in my … [Read more...]

My Word of the Year: 2015

Oh, friends.  My year has begun with much turbulence.  I have spent much time in meetings and prayer and the rocky road is not over.  Which is why I thought today was the perfect day to share my Word of the Year for 2015. Everywhere I've turned this word has been before me... Yes.  That word is JOY.  While last year I sought peace (and found it for the most part), this year I will be focusing on JOY.  Many changes are coming my way … [Read more...]

Happy New Year!!

Oh, 2015!  I can't begin to imagine what you have in store for us!  We're spending some time celebrating the New Year with friends, but I'm also brainstorming DIYs and inspiration to share here, along with some more personal posts along the way.  This year is already promising BIG changes in our world, so I'd love it if you'd pray for us as we venture forth.  In fact, why don't we pray for each other??  Please share in the comments how I can pray … [Read more...]
