Country Living Fair 2013

Y'all.  What a great - busy fun - weekend we had! Some long time friends came in town and the girls spent Saturday taking in the Country Living Fair at Stone Mountain! Let me just say, if you ever get the chance to take this in... DO IT!  We were blessed with a beautiful day and were amazed at the scope of this event! If this tower of pumpkins and gourds doesn't put you in the fall spirit, I don't know what will! If you … [Read more...]

Fall in the Kitchen

Hump Daaa-aaayy!    Had to go there... :)  Before I launch into lots of photos of my kitchen fall decor, I have to share this preschool funny from Monday... In honor of Columbus Day, we were discussing Christopher Columbus and his journey across the Atlantic Ocean.  The children's book I have about Christopher Columbus has an illustration of him at his desk, with a map, compass, hour glass, and armillary sphere.  Of course there were questions … [Read more...]

Fall in the Family Room

Is it already Monday?  The weekend just flew by, but we got some amazing family time celebrating my mother-in-law's 80th birthday... how cute is she? I hope I look half that good at 80!  It was a fun weekend, and my boy even achieved a hat trick in his soccer game -- winning weekend for the Miltons! Today I'm sharing my fall decor in the family room.  After painting several pumpkins and adding them to  some I spraypainted a couple of … [Read more...]

Fall in the Foyer

Finally Friday!  I had two glorious furlough days early in the week and it was great to catch up on a few things around the house and put some finishing touches on my fall decor.   I sure do love to have a day or two to just piddle around the house every so often... :)  We've got a super busy weekend ahead celebrating my MIL's 80th birthday, a houseful of guests, soccer games, and other to-do's, but the weather will be awesome and we intend to … [Read more...]

DIY Monogram Pumpkin

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a pumpkin painting tear.  If you follow me on Instagram you were witness to it all. :)  It's no secret that I'm no fan of bright orange pumpkins but I love the different shapes and sizes and the way pumpkins just speak of fall.  So I pulled out my chalk paint and some brushes and got to work on a selection of  faux pumpkins to use in decorating my booth for fall. I used Annie Sloan chalk paints in Old … [Read more...]

October Thoughts and September in Review

Ah, at last... October!  Cooler days, chilly evenings, the ever-so-slow turning of the leaves here in the South... I am so ready for the pause that is October.  August and September are the hectic back-to-school scurry and adjustments.  November is the steady uptick in the schedule and way-too-soon holiday prep.  But October? Maybe because August and September have left me wrung out and a bit broken, but October feels like a chance to … [Read more...]

Fall Mantel, a Winner, and an {in}Mercy Update

Happy Wednesday... the first of fall!  I have to confess, I was uber-ready to welcome fall this year by getting my decorating on.  Much as I loved my summer mantel with its killer burlap flag bunting, I am ready to think crisp mornings, breezy leaf-drifting days, and pumpkins! And, oo la la, I love it so! The leaves haven't begun changing yet here, but I'm loving the Japanese Maple clippings in my demijohns.  It will be fun to refresh … [Read more...]

The BEST Banana Bread

Good Monday, everyone and Happy Fall at last!  We had a cooler weekend and it finally feels a little "fall-like" outside.  Good thing since I spent a rainy Saturday (after soccer was cancelled) finishing up some fall crafts and trying my hand at a little watercoloring.  Do you ever paint with watercolors?  My class of Littles painted last Thursday and I was inspired to dig mine out and try a couple... very therapeutic! Sunday morning I made a … [Read more...]

Four DIYs for Fall

Hello friends!  And Happy Hump Daaa-aayy!  If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I've been a pumpkin painting fool this week... some will go into my booth this weekend and some will stay right here at home.  I sometimes forget how therapeutic a simple painting project can be, so even though I've been brain dead by 3pm each day, I've enjoyed sitting at my kitchen table and painting away.  I'll share those soon. But today I'm sharing four … [Read more...]

Before Fall Slips Away…

Confession:  the hubs left to go hunting on Sunday and I've pulled out the Christmas tree.  I know.  It's not even Thanksgiving yet. But I couldn't help it.  I had teenagers idling the week away and the urge to get Christmas rocking and rolling over took me.  It's not up yet.  And it's not decorated.  But it's been dragged out of the the storage area in my basement, ready to go at any moment. And then this morning I was convicted. For … [Read more...]
