February Favorites

Well, gang, my laptop has decided to crash and burn this week, so my posts won't be quite what I'd hoped!  But never fear, I've got my faves today and then a special Happy Blogiversary to me post on Friday!  Yep, March is my two year anniversary of blogging AND my five year anniversary with Willow House (formerly Southern Living at HOME) AND my 45th birthday.  It's a month to party for sure, and I have a thing or two up my sleeve for you, my … [Read more...]

A Pinch Me Moment: NYC and DVF

I jetted up to NYC over President's Day weekend to get a little "girl" time (it was GREAT!) and had one of those "pinch me" moments on Sunday night.  Amy and I were wandering in the Meat Packing district (isn't that what everyone does when they visit NYC??) as it got dark.  This was a new zone for me, so i was taking in all the brick streets and old warehouses turned hip restaurants and bars.  She wanted to show me the High Line, a new greenspace … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist: Spoonflower.com

I'm working on a new venture I'll share with y'all next week (gotta have a full plate, you know!), but in the meantime, I wanted to share this with you... spotted in the pages of Country Living magazine. So the fabric caught my eye, of course, but what REALLY grabbed me is that this was generated by Spoonflower.com -- a site where you can upload your own design, photo, etc and CREATE your own fabric!  Is this AWESOME or what? I have a … [Read more...]

Mardi Gras Fun {Easy Kid’s DIY}

Well, you can take the girl out of New Orleans, but you can't take New Orleans out of the girl... One of my favorite lessons to do with my class is on Mardi Gras Day or Fat Tuesday (try telling a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds that today is Fat Tuesday and you can imagine the giggles that ensue!).  I break the day and traditions down to a 4-year-old level and then we enjoy a Mardi Gras treat (usually King Cake). This year I decided to add in an … [Read more...]

Loving: Collections

I'm jetting off to NYC today to have some girlfriend time with my BFF -- woo hoo!  After dealing (still) with our roof rat issue and taking care of all my boys/men, I'm ready for a pink apartment on the Upper East Side, sleeping in, Broadway shows, champagne, a little antique browsing, and lots of visits on the sofa. :) But don't worry, I'm not leaving you high and dry! I did a post a couple of weeks ago over at Fancy Little Things about … [Read more...]

Sheet Music Candles {Romance for Valentine’s Day}

I'm not one for decorating for each and every holiday that comes along.  I'm in awe of these gals that are switching out mantles and vignettes every couple of months to celebrate the various holidays... but I guess I know my limits. :)   I'm more of a seasonal switcher of decor-- winter, spring, summer, fall, then Christmas (though you might find a nod to a certain holiday on my kitchen island or hanging on my door... just sayin'!). I've loved … [Read more...]

Eye Candy

Source: brabournefarm.blogspot.com.au via Heidi on Pinterest   I had visions of finishing projects over the weekend but a migraine derailed my plans. :-(   Hoping to finish those up and share with you later this week.  In the meantime, I came across this delightful photo that whispers of spring.  And who doesn't love a galvanized bucket? And you can head to my personal blog to read my responses to 11 questions from my friend … [Read more...]

Catalog Finds {Pottery Barn} & Linky Followers

Woo hoo, the weekend is just about here!  Don't know about you, but it's been a looooonnnnng week and I'm looking forward to working on a couple of projects, spending time with the fam, and curling up in front of the fire. In fact, here is a little eye candy for you from the latest Pottery Barn catalog.  I was intrigued by their "Decorate for under $50" schtick, so thought I'd check it out.  Here's how I did... Love these Beaded Egg … [Read more...]

Fleur de Lis Love {Mom Cave Update}

Does it seem like my Mom Cave is taking FOREVER to finish??  Well, it is.  I've been working on it off and on for about a year now.  But I'm pleased with the progress of late and feel like I'm in the home stretch.   One of the things I've had my eye out for is fleur de lis accents for the space.  I've always loved the fleur de lis image -- it reminds me of my time in New Orleans when I was immersed in the study of art, architecture, and … [Read more...]
