Gosh I thought May was crazy, but June has been a little nutty, too! I secretly enjoy the revolving door days of summer with all the kids home and their friends in tow. And then there's the sky high grocery bills and endless dishes and laundry. But I'm willing to overlook those things to enjoy our summer time together. :) I've got some exciting things planned around my house in July, so stay tuned for those, but in the meantime, here are my … [Read more...]
Looky What I Found {Antique Map of the South}
Well, I'm still sorting out all the great information I got at Haven and having fun visiting the blogs of the ladies I met -- so much talent out there in the blogosphere! But a busy household waits for no one, so I'm getting hardly anything a few things done around here, too. And I was thrilled when my latest purchase from Decor Steals (formerly WUSLU) showed up on my doorstep! I love maps. They just speak of journeys and memories. … [Read more...]
Haven-Bound and Map Podge Candles
Thanks for all your sweet comments and words of encouragment on my porch progress post! I'm just glad to no longer be embarrassing my neighbors (though they're much too nice to ever admit it)! Now, onto later this week... I haven't had butterflies like these in YEARS. You see, this week, I'll be at Haven, a conference for DIY/decorating/crafting bloggers. I'll be in the company of some of the most inspiring bloggers in the blogosphere, … [Read more...]
Front Porch Progress!
It feels so good to share progress on a project!! I'm close to wrapping up my front porch freshening (or "freshly" as my friend KariAnne would say), so I thought I'd show you what I've done. If you missed the before, click here. This is a lesson in how small changes make a big difference! I've added fresh mulch to the beds where I planted my little drifting roses... Those little roses are so happy now, they're covered … [Read more...]
True Blue {Flea Market Find}

Source: alittlebitoshizzle.blogspot.com via Heidi on Pinterest And I had an inspiration photo (thank you, Pinterest!). And that is how this $2 girl went from this... Are you ready? Are you sure you're ready? Are you really, really ready??? For this... I am … [Read more...]

Easy DIY Moss and Burlap Wreath
Once I finally took down my evergreen "M" that hangs in my kitchen window through the winter months, it just looked so bare. When I then painted the walls that very pale gray-green, I knew I needed something with a little punch hanging there... can't be too sleek and neutral now. :) And I wanted natural elements -- or something resembling natural elements anyway. So I gathered up a few things I had laying around from other projects: a … [Read more...]
Burlap Wrap Vase (the No Sew version!)
If you've been reading here long enough, you know I'm a non-sewing decor blogger. I'd love for that to change, but I'm not in a big hurry to break out the sewing machine and learn. So when I got a load of this from Laura over at Top This Top That... Source: topthistopthat.blogspot.com via Heidi on Pinterest and this from KariAnne at Thistlewood Farm... Source: thistlewoodfarm.wordpress.com via Thistlewood on … [Read more...]
Preschool Cupcakes and Coffee with Mom…
Last week we celebrated our preschoolers' moms with a Cupcakes and Coffee spread. This event is a lot of work, but the kids and the moms love it so much, I always feel that it is completely worth it! So I thought you might enjoy a sneak peek of my "other" job... The tables are decorated with the children's gifts for mom: scrapbooks of art collected over the entire year! We save one project each month, then mount them and compile … [Read more...]
Sheet Music Canvases… the Pass It On Project
I teased y'all the other day with my Pass It On Project. :-) It evolved over time and provided a little creative therapy for me in the process. I've been wanting to do a sheet music project for quite some time -- and have probably pinned a dozen or so to try. About a year ago, I scored two books of vintage sheet music from Woodstock Antiques and this project seemed the perfect one to use a bit of it. Sheet music is both graphic and … [Read more...]
