Easy DIY Typography Planter (“Howdy!)

TGIF, friends!  And Happy March to you! Today I'm sharing a super easy project.  My favorite project from my Silent Auction home decor array is this planter. It just makes me happy.  It's friendly.  Now there's an adjective you don't hear much any more!  But this little 'ole planter... she's friendly. So I thought I'd be a good neighbor and share this project.  No rocket science involved. :)   Since I was using what I … [Read more...]

Elephant Glam

Happy Monday, friends!  Whew -- what HAPPENED to the weekend??  Seems like I blinked and it was gone... BUT I finished up several projects I'll be sharing with y'all soon.  Woo hoo! Throughout the week I was working on a silent auction item for my youngest son's youth group.  They're fundraising for their pilgrimage to Spain and Portugal this July (jealous much?).  So I put together a fun spring home decor arrangement... Remember my No … [Read more...]

Easy Valentine Treat

Oh, rain, rain, go away... I am in serious need of some sunshine, even if it's of the COLD variety!  We've had so many gray, rainy days lately, it's taking a toll on me.  I live in the South, for heaven's sake, not the Pacific Northwest! Last weekend, I caught up on some Valentine treat-making, so I thought I'd share it here today, to chase those rainy day blues away!  Anyone else cheered by a sweet and salty treat?? This is as easy as … [Read more...]

Looking Back (a 2012 Review)

Looking back is not my strong suit.  :)  I'm a proponent of moving on, pressing ahead, not looking back.  But 2012 was a year of growth and change for Decor & More, and many of you are new around here...so I think it's fitting that I do a little review of last year's projects and progress. In January, I did a little thrifting, some organization, and added some art work to my Mom Cave.  I also created this easy little moss … [Read more...]

DIY Sheet Music Tree {and a little of this ‘n that…}

It was quite the birthday weekend for the hubs up at the lake, and now, of course, I'm feeling behind the eight ball just a bit!  My daughter and I take off for NYC right after school on Thursday, so all my to-dos for the next several days need to be checked off by the time I leave for work on Thursday morning... yikes! Anyhow, over Thanksgiving I worked on this little sheet music project and thought I'd share it with you along with a peek at … [Read more...]

I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing {DIY Music Wreath}

Well, it's true that I have not put up one single decoration in my home (gah!), but I HAVE been working on things for the booth, as you know.  :) Last night I was busy fluffing and loading in some new pieces and now it's ready for a holiday shopping weekend.  One of the items I added is this guy.  I love to create wreaths and this idea had been rolling around in my head for several weeks... I love sheet music and it's been the crafting … [Read more...]

DIY Cushy Pumpkin {Fall Decor}

I've already confessed I'm ready to decorate for Christmas.  But I'm restraining myself!  While I've got some Christmas crafts a-rockin', I have one more fall project to share with you--  my DIY cushy pumpkin. This is a fun and super simple project... and isn't it cute?  I've whipped out a few of these while watching a football game, so it's not particularly time-consuming, once you've assembled what you need: fabric (I use lightweight … [Read more...]

Boo Y’all {Painted Porch Planter}

A few months ago, I scored a set of four painted distressed rectangular planters and I had an idea (or two) mulling around in my head.  They're lovely, but I thought how fun it would be to paint a different message on each of them to greet visitors that happen to come to my front door. Last weekend, I decided to tackle one with a fun fall message:  Boo Y'all. 'Cuz that's what we say here in Georgia. :) This one is a warm creamy color, … [Read more...]

DIY Stencil Drapes {Royal Design Studio Stencil Review}

Though it's hard to pick a favorite project in my Ugly Duckling dining room, I think the project that made the biggest difference in my space is my drapes... After living with simple blinds for soooo long, I was completely unprepared with how finished these drapes make my space feel! And this project had a ton of bang for the buck!  Here's how it came about... It all started when I went to Haven.   I was so thrilled to receive a … [Read more...]
