The BEST Banana Bread

Good Monday, everyone and Happy Fall at last!  We had a cooler weekend and it finally feels a little "fall-like" outside.  Good thing since I spent a rainy Saturday (after soccer was cancelled) finishing up some fall crafts and trying my hand at a little watercoloring.  Do you ever paint with watercolors?  My class of Littles painted last Thursday and I was inspired to dig mine out and try a couple... very therapeutic! Sunday morning I made a … [Read more...]

Chicken with Lemon-Cucumber Relish {a new favorite recipe}

Thank goodness it's Friday!  First of all, thank you for your kind comments and encouraging words on Wednesday.  I so appreciate the supportive community here and am buoyed by your thoughts and prayers.  I'm looking forward to a weekend at home to rest, regroup, tick a few things off my To Do List, and take in the first two of our fall soccer games.  While summer is over, I'll still be wearing shorts and sunscreen on the sidelines... and then … [Read more...]

In Case You Missed It (July)

This is just shameful.  Past the mid-point of August and I'm just now reviewing July???  Welcome to my chaos, friends! :-)  I have to confess, though, that the past weeks of back-to-school nuttiness has me pondering a new project here on the blog.  Details to come soon!  Thank you for all the kind comments about my daughter's "new" furniture, too -- always love a good furniture redemption! Anyway, I looked back at July and it was full of good … [Read more...]

Blueberry – Cucumber Slaw

Our Fourth of July may have been rained out, but I pressed on with trying a new recipe to go with our brats... and it was a fresh summertime winner that's only fueled my desire for a kitchen garden. :)  I spotted this recipe in my June issue of BHG and dog-earred the page to try it out.  So glad I did and now you can, too. This was simple to prepare and soooo tasty! Sorry for the bright light in the photos -- it was, of course, … [Read more...]

Lemon-Cucumber Refresher

Hello and Happy Monday!  We had a great weekend getting the kids back home, lounging by the pool and hanging out with friends.  Saturday night I had such a great time dining with these sweet ladies! Thanks, Cassie, for letting me swipe this off FB... lots of creative blogging brains in this group: Michelle, Lisa, Kelly, Cassie, and Kathleen.  Always enjoy a fun GNO! We also celebrated a certain young man's 15th birthday... How … [Read more...]

Easy Valentine Treat

Oh, rain, rain, go away... I am in serious need of some sunshine, even if it's of the COLD variety!  We've had so many gray, rainy days lately, it's taking a toll on me.  I live in the South, for heaven's sake, not the Pacific Northwest! Last weekend, I caught up on some Valentine treat-making, so I thought I'd share it here today, to chase those rainy day blues away!  Anyone else cheered by a sweet and salty treat?? This is as easy as … [Read more...]

Holiday Treat: Reindeer Food

It's Friday, friends, and the clock is ticking toward Christmas!  This week, in addition to some major re-entry issues after NYC, I made our traditional Reindeer Food treat that we give to friends and neighbors during the holidays. I'm always on the hunt for cute containers to package it.  These were all picked up on clearance after last Christmas.  Do you spy the treat spread out on the counter behind while it hardens?  This is the recipe … [Read more...]

Easy Peasy Candy Corn Bark {Fall Sweet Treat}

Happy Wednesday!  I'm busy getting ready for my parents' visit and we'll be tailgating for the Auburn v. Texas A&M game on Saturday, so I went digging for a fun fall treat to take with us... lo and behold, my Candy Corn Bark came to mind!  And since y'all might need a treat for your fall gatherings, I'm bringing it back to share today...   *** It's my turn to cook lunch for the teachers at the preschool today and one of my tasks … [Read more...]

Tasty Meatloaf Recipe (and a Fall Bazaar)

Nothing says fall like comfort food and today I'm sharing a yummy meatloaf recipe... with a fun twist! A few weeks ago I was charged with making meatloaf for my church's Wednesday Night Dinner... enough to feed 25-30 people.  In my home, my peeps like a SLAB of meatloaf.  Not a wimpy slice.  So how to figure out how many loaves to make since I'm not a good judge of how far meatloaf will go? ;-) Enter my cupcake pan. What better way … [Read more...]

Favorite Christmas Treat {Reindeer Food}

I started making this treat for family and friends several years ago-- a recipe torn from a magazine in the doctor's office.  I can't even remember which magazine, sadly, but it's favorite to make, share, and enjoy.  We call it reindeer food. :) Here's all you need: The cereal is either corn or rice chex (I just grabbed a bag, so I really don't know what this batch holds. :)) I use the microwave to soften the almond bark-- much easier … [Read more...]
