Passing It On… Etc.

Last weekend was one of the busiest of late, but I managed to finish my Pass It On projects in the midst of the May Madness...  woo hoo!  Here's a couple of sneak peeks until I can get them safely en route to Megan of Balancing Home and Lisa of Budget Design Girl.  I'm so thrilled these sweet lady bloggers have agreed to partake! This project is one that evolved as I was working on it... I started out with one idea in mind. Wrestled a … [Read more...]

Mom Cave Progress {Sneak Peek}

I haven't had many projects to share lately, but I have made lots of incremental progress on a few rooms in the house.  My Mom Cave is truly an evolution of a space, more than a year in the works.  Am I patient or what?? :-) Getting the paint done was huge progress. And very time consuming.  But I love it more every day.  The gray is Behr Silver Sateen, the cream is Porter Velvet White. Then I hung Inslee's art work... And got … [Read more...]

Goodwill Chair + Chalk Paint

So excited to share this little furniture makeover with you!  Remember this chair I scored at Goodwill for $1.50? Sorry for the blurry iPhone picture, but you get the gist, right? Well, after some tlc, Annie Sloan Old White and clear wax... Isn't she a cutie now?  All decked out in her Old Time Pottery fabric and chalk paint? A little distressing, some waxing... I have to say, the lipstick on this pig did the … [Read more...]

A Kitchen Preview and Something Cool

I've officially lost my mind when I decide to repaint my kitchen during my week off.  The week when I'm all alone and could be antiquing, reading, lounging on my back deck, chatting on the phone with friends, starting happy hour at 5 sharp.  You know -- vacation???  But instead, I got the grandiose notion that this was the perfect time for me to repaint the kitchen. Granted, the Tuscan gold is 12 years old.  And the woodwork is all dinged … [Read more...]

It’s a Cinch!! Chalkboard Flower Buckets

This has GOT to be the easiest project I've tackled in a while... I spied these flower buckets in the dollar section at Target.  There were only two left so I, of course, snagged them both.   I was thinking I'd love to dress them up to put in my booth... or not. :) I dug out my chalkboard paint and some stencils from my scrapbooking days.  I'm thinking "chalkboard labels", ripe for any message. I used painters tape to secure the … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Monday

Big news, gang!  I'm sooooo excited about my birthday present to myself... I'm going to HAVEN!! Woo Hoo!  My first bloggy conference and I can't wait... especially to meet up IRL with some bloggy friends and get some awesome blogging and DIY advice.  And, best of all, I get to share with you all when all is said and done!  Can you tell I'm excited?  Did I mention how excited I am??! Whew -- I couldn't even save that for the end of the … [Read more...]

Goodwill Find + Chalk Paint

I still don't have my beloved laptop back, but I'm going to attempt to share a Before and After from iPhone pics and hubs' desk top... ugh.  Hate not having all my stuff together!  Any hoo... When we were gathering some items to go in our booth, I came across this little shelf at Goodwill for $9: Sorry for the blurry pic!  I literally snapped this to send to my partner in crime... Anyway, I was envisioning (of course) a coat of chalk … [Read more...]

Mardi Gras Fun {Easy Kid’s DIY}

Well, you can take the girl out of New Orleans, but you can't take New Orleans out of the girl... One of my favorite lessons to do with my class is on Mardi Gras Day or Fat Tuesday (try telling a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds that today is Fat Tuesday and you can imagine the giggles that ensue!).  I break the day and traditions down to a 4-year-old level and then we enjoy a Mardi Gras treat (usually King Cake). This year I decided to add in an … [Read more...]

Sheet Music Candles {Romance for Valentine’s Day}

I'm not one for decorating for each and every holiday that comes along.  I'm in awe of these gals that are switching out mantles and vignettes every couple of months to celebrate the various holidays... but I guess I know my limits. :)   I'm more of a seasonal switcher of decor-- winter, spring, summer, fall, then Christmas (though you might find a nod to a certain holiday on my kitchen island or hanging on my door... just sayin'!). I've loved … [Read more...]

Fresh for Winter

I'm loving my winter decor this year!  Last year, I just couldn't seem to hit it exactly right, though that could have been attributed to being in the midst of a somewhat daunting Refresh the Family Room project.  Truth be told, THAT project is still on-going (still need things like slipcovers and a fresh crop of wall art), but I feel like I am much closer to truly enjoying my space.  Yay for progress!! You've already seen my … [Read more...]
