In Case You Missed It x2 (April and May)

Y'all I'm so far behind, I never recapped April!  And since my feed was doing wonky things in late April/early May, I figured it warranted a quick recap of both months! I finally was able to regroup a bit after the crowd of young adults left on Saturday... things will be a tad quieter here now, so I've been working on some new DIY ideas and gathering supplies for a couple of home projects (yay summertime!).  But before we embark on June, let's … [Read more...]

Preschool Moms Tea… the “Decor”

Hi friends!  We're in the midst of that frenetic slide into the end of the school year, both at home and work.  All good, but how I manage to forget the craziness from year to year is beyond me. :-) Anyhoo, I thought I'd share some sweet pics from the "decor" of our Moms' Tea last week... such a wonderful celebration of motherhood and my preschool moms are always -- somehow -- the absolute BEST. The "books" on the tables … [Read more...]

A Little Happy for Your Friday

Confession:  This week has kicked me in the booty.  Lots of good mixed in with the not-so-good/stressful, but just A-LOT. I know you know how I feel... it's May, afterall.  And as a mom AND a teacher, I get it going and coming.  On Monday, I'll share some pics of what my house looks like right now.  I have to put the blinders on to walk out the door and so I will, and I will try not to think about the disarray until I walk back in the door.  … [Read more...]

Easy Leprechaun Pie Treat

Hi friends!  I don't normally pop in over the weekend, but I wanted to share this fun St Patrick's Day treat today so you'd have time to whip it up for tomorrow's festivities!  I stumbled across this little gem on Oopsey Daisy blog three years ago and I've whipped it up for my preschoolers to enjoy every year since then.  If you're not familiar with Alison's blog, she's got tons of kid-friendly activities and easy DIYs.  She's not posted in quite … [Read more...]

Spring Mantel Makeover

Well, my server has been upgraded and I can finally share my spring mantel with y'all -- we had some nice weather over the weekend and at the beginning of the week so I was itching to get it finally ready for spring. :)  Never mind that we're back in the cold wind and rain right now.   We should have known this winter would not go quietly! You've probably noticed I left a few things in place... like my antique frame that's propped on my … [Read more...]

First of all -- WE DID IT!  We've fully funded the second home for Mercy House Kenya!!   I have been humbled over and over by the amazing generosity of the online community through this project.  What a gift to participate in some small way.  And THANK YOU for your prayers, encouragement, and any and every contribution to the cause.  We are -- with God's help -- changing lives and futures, y'all!! Mardi Gras Fun {Easy Kid’s DIY}

Well, you can take the girl out of New Orleans, but you can't take New Orleans out of the girl... One of my favorite lessons to do with my class is on Mardi Gras Day or Fat Tuesday (try telling a bunch of 4 and 5 year olds that today is Fat Tuesday and you can imagine the giggles that ensue!).  I break the day and traditions down to a 4-year-old level and then we enjoy a Mardi Gras treat (usually King Cake). This year I decided to add in an … [Read more...]

Easy Peasy Snowflake Ornament

Happy Friday, friends!  Just in case you're looking to occupy the kids this weekend, today I'm sharing an easy kid-friendly DIY Christmas ornament.  I've done this for several years with my 4 year olds and they adorn the school trees surrounding our Winter Wonderland activities. All you need for this project is silver or sparkly white pipe cleaners, letter beads that spell your child's name, other assorted beads (we use white, clear, … [Read more...]
