Happy Wednesday, y'all! This week has already gotten away from me... I knew I'd be busy this summer, but MAN! We had a minor flood in our basement storage room over the weekend so I've been sorting through that mess on top of what I already had on tap for the week. #Boo. Anyway, I'm popping in today to share what I'm reading, working on, and loving right now... A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I'd strayed from my bookish ways and had … [Read more...]
Five on Friday: Anniversary Edition!
Howdy, friends! The hubs and I have escaped to one of our favorite spots for the weekend -- Lake Rabun... we're celebrating 10 years of marriage/blended family today! So of course, that tops the list for today's Five on Friday. :) 1. The plunge... if you didn't already know, we got married at his aunt's home on Lake Rabun and jumped off the boathouse after saying our vows. Lots of wonderful memories from that special day! In ten … [Read more...]
Refreshing the Back Deck
We've been embracing our deck-sitting season as the weather has permitted and I'm so glad I refreshed it before graduation! I spent an entire day pressure washing... it was in dire need! And I'd hoped to get a fresh coat of stain/sealer down, but we haven't had enough days without rain yet to tackle that. Anyhoo, I decided to go ahead and plant my flowers, lay a new rug and add a bit of temporary seating for the time being. These … [Read more...]
Helllloooooo, Summer!
Hard to believe it but the month of May is history and we're in summer mode here in ATL. The irony is that during my teaching years I found myself in leisurely hog-heaven on June 2. This year however I think leisure will be hard to come by as we get Legacy ready to rock on August 10th. So I'm navigating new waters of having a hefty to-do list, no set schedule, and lots of summer time activities that may have to fall by the wayside. However, … [Read more...]
In Case You Missed It {July and August}
Well, here we are! The last day of August... how did that happen?? This was a summer of sporadic posting, some story-telling, and a few technical issues here on the blog that I'm still trying to figure out. May be time to call in a professional! #ugh Today I'm going to recap my posts from July and August... just in case you missed something! I shared my favorite Fourth of July projects and recipes from years past, along with this … [Read more...]
Fireplace Makeover!
Happy Wednesday, y'all! First of all, thank you so much for the sweet comments on Part 1 of the Legacy story... I sometimes hesitate to get too personal here, but this story has been such a faith walk I have to get it out of my heart and head! Today, as promised, it's back to projects and I am sooo excited to share this one with you! It's one of those that makes you think: why did I wait so long to do this??? A couple of weeks ago I gave … [Read more...]
My Fourth of July Faves
Howdy! The 4th of July sneaked up on me this year! Today I'm refreshing my front porch and enjoying some Wimbeldon and then will head to the pool if these thunderstorms let up. And plan our eats for tomorrow's celebration. :) But I thought I'd round up some patriotic posts to share with y'all today, just in case you're in need of some inspiration. I'll be making these cookie bites tomorrow morning... they're our favorite sweet treat … [Read more...]
Back Deck Update: End of Summer
Y'all, we've had so much rain this summer, my back deck is exploding with color! I thought I'd share, because we've so enjoyed hanging out there these past several weeks. Just to remind you where we were at the beginning of the summer... Not bad, but now there's this... Amazing what a rug, some colorful pillows, sunshine, rain, and a little fertilizer in the pots can do! I never managed to get my furniture … [Read more...]
Easy Herbal Iced Tea
Ah August. Probably my least favorite month of the year (no offense, August-lovers!). I think it's because we're already back in school (too soon), if it's not raining it's so steamy hot you can't do anything outside, and I'm just not quite ready to give up the ghost of summer. By this time of year, I'm so tired of drinking water... I know I must, I know it's good for me, but it just becomes.... blah. Back in the day in Texas, we used to … [Read more...]
