In Case You Missed It: January

Well, a few days got away from me and here we are into February!  Yikes!  If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that I broke away for a girls' weekend at the beach and got the bonus fun of celebrating a dear old friend's 50th birthday at the same time.  It was a good time and now it's back to cold/rainy/busy days here at home. :) I've got a list of posts for y'all coming in the next few weeks, but thought I'd flash back to January today, just … [Read more...]

Looky What I Found…

Wednesday!  We've been in the deep freeze here in Georgia with some snow and ice predicted for later today.  It is January after all! So I've had the fire lit and I've been working away on Legacy and getting my family room ship shape.  Well, friends, you know that one thing usually leads to another!  And so now that the family room refresh is under way it's on.  I'm on a tight budget but I knew I wanted a small ottoman to accompany these new … [Read more...]

Family Room Updates (A Peek)

Happy MLK Day, friends... I hope you are off today, snuggled in with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoying yourself!  I've been taking advantage of the long weekend in a big way... catching up on Legacy to-do's, working on reorganizing my office, reading, and even sneaking in a nap or two.  I'm still kind of low energy after my illness, so I've found I still need a little extra rest.  Let's hope it's not habit forming. :) Speaking of when I was … [Read more...]

Family Room Bookshelves: Refreshed

It's the proverbial One Thing Leads to Another, y'all.  Once I repainted my family room and put my summer mantel in place, my built in bookshelves were just crying out for a fresh look, too.  What about MEEEeeeee???  they were saying.  And since a student of mine last year ruined that phrase for me, I had to act.  #donteverwanttohearthatagain If you follow me on Instagram, you got a peek or two at the process.  And it is, indeed, a process.  … [Read more...]

DIY Heart Canvas

Well, I caved a little on my "no decorating for Valentine's Day" stance over the weekend. You see, I had a vision.  Does that ever happen to you? And my paint brushes were beckoning.  And, after all, didn't I say that painting more was on my personal goals list for 2014?   So I got a little bit busy. :) I already had everything on hand for this project (yay!) and this Christmas inspiration piece had been tickling my mind for a couple … [Read more...]

Spring/Easter Mantel (the Full Monty)

TGIF, friends!  After a week that culminated with my son's 18th birthday (!) and an Easter Egg hunt with 14 crazy little people, I'm very happy to see Friday!  And just in time for Easter, I'm finally sharing my spring/Easter mantel with you patient people... A few things remain... my mirror, my sconces, my antique open frame and my sheet music candles... The hydrangeas in my DIY mercury glass vase are actually ones I cut last … [Read more...]

DIY Sheet Music Tree {and a little of this ‘n that…}

It was quite the birthday weekend for the hubs up at the lake, and now, of course, I'm feeling behind the eight ball just a bit!  My daughter and I take off for NYC right after school on Thursday, so all my to-dos for the next several days need to be checked off by the time I leave for work on Thursday morning... yikes! Anyhow, over Thanksgiving I worked on this little sheet music project and thought I'd share it with you along with a peek at … [Read more...]

Mom Cave Progress {Sneak Peek}

I haven't had many projects to share lately, but I have made lots of incremental progress on a few rooms in the house.  My Mom Cave is truly an evolution of a space, more than a year in the works.  Am I patient or what?? :-) Getting the paint done was huge progress. And very time consuming.  But I love it more every day.  The gray is Behr Silver Sateen, the cream is Porter Velvet White. Then I hung Inslee's art work... And got … [Read more...]
