Y'all I'm so far behind, I never recapped April! And since my feed was doing wonky things in late April/early May, I figured it warranted a quick recap of both months! I finally was able to regroup a bit after the crowd of young adults left on Saturday... things will be a tad quieter here now, so I've been working on some new DIY ideas and gathering supplies for a couple of home projects (yay summertime!). But before we embark on June, let's … [Read more...]
Back Deck Refresh!
Oh my gosh, did our winter take a toll on my back deck!! Every plant was dead -- even the ones that will normally winter over -- and my furniture had taken a beating. Since it's prime deck-sitting time now, this was first on my list of summer projects. :) Here's the sad sad before... Ugh. And here's the after... Ahhhh! Much better! Here's the un-fun stuff I did: hubs had pressure-washed a few weeks ago for … [Read more...]
DIY Twig Vase
You wouldn't think such an easy DIY would take me two weeks to share, but life/end of school happened and here we are! We enjoyed some fantastic family/friend time at Lake Blue Ridge over the holiday and the fun has spilled over into the week. The current inhabitants of my home are two 15 year olds, three 19 year olds, a 21 year old, a 27 year old "boomerang", and the hubs and I. You can imagine the chaos! It's only for a few days, so we'll … [Read more...]
Summer Travel {Pinnacle Port and Carillion Beach}
As I'm back in my classroom now and thinking ahead to fall (can you believe it??), I'm thinking wistfully of our last blast at the beach right before Haven Conference. Even though it made the week before school started a little hectic, it was such a lovely getaway! There were rainbows over morning coffee... Body surfing... Pelican watching... Chilling with this girl... Relaxing in a chair with my name on it (does … [Read more...]
In Case You Missed It (July)
This is just shameful. Past the mid-point of August and I'm just now reviewing July??? Welcome to my chaos, friends! :-) I have to confess, though, that the past weeks of back-to-school nuttiness has me pondering a new project here on the blog. Details to come soon! Thank you for all the kind comments about my daughter's "new" furniture, too -- always love a good furniture redemption! Anyway, I looked back at July and it was full of good … [Read more...]
Haven!!
Much as I hated leaving the beach and sunsets like this... I'm so excited to be attending Haven conference today and tomorrow! Hopefully I'll be soaking up all kinds of inspiration for you! At the very least, I know I'll be rubbing elbows and catching up with some of my favorite bloggers and learning how to make Decor & More a better experience for my readers. This week I had two guest posts published if you're looking for design … [Read more...]
DIY Paint Stirrer Herb Markers
Remember how I said I wanted a garden? How much I enjoyed eating fresh in the summertime? And how some generous friends shared their bounty with us? And then there was this amazing drink and this tasty side that called for fresh herbs? Well I abandoned my other projects to put together my own little herb garden on my back deck complete with DIY herb markers... made from paint stirrers and a little chalkboard paint. This is a super … [Read more...]
Monday on a Tuesday
Whew -- what an amazing weekend I had in NYC with my BFF. If you follow me on Instagram you got a few peeks at what we were up to. :) Fun times... I'll give you the details in a later post, but for today I'm digging out from under a pile of mail, emails, and laundry. You know -- the post-trip drill in a busy household. But I'd love for you to take a look at a quick outdoor project I did last week... a container herb garden! I'm … [Read more...]
He’s On His Way (and So Am I)
Well, I survived the send-off... Even big brother took his lunch hour to say bon voyage... And big sister got extra tight squeezes... Hope Spain and Portugal are ready for this group!! Only a few tears on my end and extra tight hugs on his end. Thank you so much for your prayers as he embarks on this amazing journey to grow his faith. As for me, I'm headed to one of my favorite places... to hang with … [Read more...]
