Rhinestone Jesus: Review and a GIVEAWAY!

Sometimes the right words are just put before you.  Isn't God so good that way? Like last fall, when I accepted an invitation to join the blogging ranks for (in)Mercy in my quest to make this space count.   And I told the story of my mom's illness while traveling in Kenya.  And how I now had the opportunity to, in turn, make a difference for some special girls in that country. And how I read with amazement that we had FAR exceeded our … [Read more...]

This ‘n That Tuesday

My school year is rapidly drawing to a close (how did THAT happen??!) and soon I'll be welcoming both the college one and our oldest back into the fold -- busy times afoot around here!  And I lost a little ground battling that nasty head cold last week and through much of my weekend. Hence, this post. :) During my latest thrifting adventure, I stumbled on these old alphabet flash cards.   A couple of the cards were missing, but I thought … [Read more...]

Easy Thrift Store Makeover: Jewelry Tree

Ah, the weekend is inching ever closer!  I have so many projects in the works, but I wanted to share a quick and easy one with you today! Last week I was cruising through my local Goodwill in search of chairs, but instead I came home with this sad little wooden mug tree... I've been itching to better organize my jewelry and I had a vision for that little $1.21 fella... A vision that looked something like this... I like having … [Read more...]

I Can’t Resist… This Table {Dot & Bo}

Howdy - hoo, Tuesday!  I'm battling another (hopefully LAST) head cold of the school year, so I didn't get this up yesterday.  Boo. Oh well... I hope you all had a blessed Easter Sunday!  I spent the weekend with friends and my peeps and while I'm sick again, my soul got recharged in a big way.  #loveitwhenthathappens I just love discovering new sites, especially of the decor variety. :)  A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Dot and Bo and decided … [Read more...]

What I’m Reading, What I’m Loving on this Good Friday

And it IS a Good Friday.  My peeps will be gathered to celebrate Easter and while I see suffering and my heart hurts for many near and dear to me, God is at work. He is at work in a mighty way, y'all. I'm spending today quietly and that feels very right.  Not just to reflect on the sacrifice of our Savior as I wind up my Lenten journey, though that is undoubtedly part and parcel off today.  I have much to be thankful for, and there are some … [Read more...]

Easter Brunch Menu

*Update:  this post was set to go out yesterday, but my server went down unexpectedly... so now we're all the way to Thursday!  Oh well... :) Wednesday already and Easter is almost upon us. In our home that means BRUNCH!  You probably already know this, but I have experience feeding crowds and Easter has become one of my favorite holiday brunch occasions.  Maybe it's that spring has *usually* sprung (don't ask me about that cold front that … [Read more...]

Before & After: Vintage Bed Makeover

Monday, monday -- and AGAIN with the rain on the way!  Ugh... at least it will knock the pollen down a bit #thinkingpositive. The hubs and I traveled to Mississippi over the weekend to lay a cousin to rest.  Though it was a sad occasion, I always love seeing my extended family and was treated to time with my dad, too.  So it was a quick weekend, with not a lot getting done on the home front, but so it goes, right? I have not-so-great photos … [Read more...]

Here's what you need... 1 and 1/2 lbs breakfast sausage (we like … [Read more...]

My Favorite Antique Pieces

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post for Mohawk Homescapes about incorporating antique accents into your decor.  And in the midst of my work on that post, I realized how many wonderful antique pieces I have in my own home.    And so I thought I'd share my favorites with you... This is my all time favorite -- my grandmother's buffet that sits in my dining room.  And one of the reasons it's my favorite is that she wrote me a letter shortly … [Read more...]
